Before I step away from Instagram for a while, I just want to thank everyone who’s supported me through the bumpy journey of bringing Short Summer to life. Wound. Red stoneware, wood ash and eggshell galzes. The shape of the vase draws insperation from sketches by the Italian architect Carlo Scarpa, while the opening for the flower is part of an exploration of the form of Christ’s wounds. Wall-mounted vase is a classic decorative element of the japanese tea house, often the only one. Carefully hanging on the wall, the vase can hold a small floral arrangement. 27,5 x 6,3 x 6,3 cm • Available for sale • pic. 5 The Wound of Christ from The Prayer Book of Bonne of Luxembourg, before 1349 pic. 6 Carlo Scarpa, Castevecchio museum sketchbook #ceramics #vase #woodashglaze #kakehanaire #hangingvase

there's a kind of reconstruction happening both in my soul and in my home (in Berlin). I’ve always believed that the inner and the outer are endlessly connected, and when I moved to Germany it brought incredible changes to my (inner) world. now it feels like I’ve finally found some kind of right direction, and as if the space around me is slowly coming into (kinda) harmony with what’s happening inside. I read the news and I know we’re surrounded by wars, and that things may only get worse, but for now I feel a strength within myself, and I see it in the people close to me with that feeling, it seems like everything is possible (but not everything is necessary). ph. @pavushka #ceramics #flowers #ceramicart #wabisabi

hi, friends! i’ll be spending the next six weeks rolling around on these wheels. a long-standing meniscus issue (mountain-bike rides, climbing, and giving running another shot) has acted up again, so i’m hoping to get back into shape by june. do you happen to have missed us and feel like dropping by to see me and @pavushka in Berlin? well, this is the perfect time to do it. i'm less mobile in march and april, so it would be great to keep seeing you :) dann los!

We love our garden in Berlin, which is a natural extension of our home. In summer, it is always lush and green, and we also fire ceramics here. What a joy to invite people and see what we love so much through their eyes! Thank you, Sasha @aanufriev for the wonderful photos. #raku #rakufiring #ceramic #folk #modernceramics

Roy Andrew Miller Japanese Ceramics Hardcover Tokyo: Toto:, 1966 240pp, with 115 colour and b/w plates, 227 text illus. & map, orig. cloth gilt. I’ve decided to start sharing books from time to time — the ones that inspire me and that once felt like real discoveries and that might become the same for someone else. For me, Japanese ceramics have always been the starting point for how I think about ceramics in general. There’s something about them that feels so thoughtful and skillful, yet completely effortless at the same time. Almost no decoration, nothing extra — just the essence. It was born during a time of great change — like an attempt to find an authentic path in a country torn apart by wars. To me, they’re also a powerful example of stubbornly and faithfully following one’s inner principles. #japaneseceramics #ceramicart #wabisabi #craftsmanship #artbooks
