Here we are Day 3 of the "There's something in your heart" daily practice. As these go on, my aim is to be in as much playfulness as possible. And from that place of playfulness, take risks, muse and enjoy the mantra for what it means to me and what it brings forth musically. ENJOY! #theressomethinginyourheartthatsglorious #theressomethinginyourheartthatsglorious
I am following my highest excitement and the great muse on this. A number of years ago I wrote a song called 'Where Did You Go?" A song about returning to an old place, in my case my old neighborbood where memories of joy and pain came forward as felt something in my core obstructed. Out of writing this song arose this outro, a mantra an "There's something in your heart that's glorious. Something unique to every one of us." It is a remind to myself and my creative spirit and a call to that spirit in humanity that each individual has and embodies itself in a myriad of ways. My intention is be free, playful, stretch and dance and bask in the power of the mantra for its own sake. I hope that it activates and inspires what is in your heart and the courage to bring it forward. All my love. #theressomethinginyourheartthatsglorious #somethinguniquetoeveryoneofus
Day 2 of the "There's something in your heart" daily practice. My intention is to express, be playful, in joy and amusement as I bask in the joy and truth of this mantra. I will play around with loose arrangements, reimaginings and rhythms while also repeating the basic version to find more things to explore and enjoy. Today we play the 6-string in the lower register, giving permission to the inner dance party for one. In Joy!

The build to exclaiming the heart. 'So my dear it looks like your still here. I hang around with some pain to keep you near. I thought you were the truth. Then I began to lie to you." You can see in the video that I lean over as the emotions from the entire story of the song, inspired by events both internal and external was realized and met in this moment.

Doe, Oh So Very Dear:
"Both an overture and epic onto itself. Where the intimacy of a campfire meets the grandeur of The San Juan Islands. Where the sweetness of connection and loving someone meets abuse and betrayal. Where being deceived meets self deception. Where longing for what you thought you had confronts a reality of grief, loss, disappointment and anger towards oneself. Where care for another encounters self-abandonment. Where the shocking sight of seeing a deer hit by a car, foreshadows a heart-wrenching break-up, a loss of someone who you believed was a valued friend, lover, and collaborator. Where the innocence of your erotic self, a sexual safety and trust in another encounters deception and manipulation. Where one comes to recognize the impact of emotional abuse, after being in denial of it, afraid of sullying the purity of one's own heart and a connection you held dear. Rising out of depression, heartbreak and longing with a passionate swagger, humor filled conviction and ferocious joy, defiantly knowing of oneself as the soul, expressing everything, apologizing for nothing"
After the "prog/jam" it opens into a Sigúr Rossian shoegazey bass that leaves space for our drummer Herr Doktor Josef Von Ziegler, Joey Ziegler to cut loose with bombs and colors adding to the intensity and build of the song. Thanks for capturing this @notdepressedjustreallytired .

This is what refer to as our "prog/jam" interlude of this tune. A vibe created by our guitarist, Matt Clough. A palate cleanser after the funky section that sets up the grand claiming and exclaiming of the heart.

This song has become a favorite of ours to play. A sonic epic called "Doe, Oh So Very Dear". We recorded this song for our upcoming album "Out Of The Loop". For the session, I wrote prompts, for focus and inspiration. Below is the prompt for this song. Thanks for capturing this @notdepressedjustreallytired .

"DOWN" from @eastlake.zoo . A song about the space of being open to get to know someone after heartbreak and betrayal. A stepping out on the ledge. An honoring of one's process. A curiosity that shines and sees the positive. #beesteemed

Matt Clough, is a singular guitarist, sonically inventive, supremely lyrical and harmonically creative. Clough is equally adept at expressing nuanced restraint and raw passion, crafting beautiful rhythm parts along with tastefully melodic solos that push the creative edge all while being deeply heartfelt.
Joey Ziegler, plays the drums with a soulful precision, sense of groove and feel paired with a sophistication that is equally playful and explorative. With great attention to detail, Ziegler extracts unique colors from the drum set, creating a sonic palette that is incredibly musical and entirely his own, all while doing it with infectious enthusiasm.
