Lines for Liberation is a Black History Month spoken word experience where poetry becomes portal, ritual, and transmission from liberated futures. 🚀✨ Thurs Feb 26th – Sun Mar 1st at The VORTEX (@vortex_rep ) on the Eloise Stage. Estan fundados y organizados por mujers y juventud Maya quien son los nietxs de los sobrivientes del genocidio Maya. Ellos trabajan para empoderar la comunidad Maya en los estados y visibilizar las luchas de los pueblos originarios en el contexto de immigracion. En este mes, piden ayuda para su Jardin Communitario de Mujeres Ixil en Virginia. El jardín comunitario es una forma de regresar a una relación con la Madre Tierra, sembrar nuestras plantas una forma de sanar y resistencia. El programa en Virginia es fundamental y los fondos darán fuerza y base a nuestra lucha y existencia como Pueblos Mayas. --- Communidad Sol is a Maya organization based out of Ohio and Virginia. This yorganization was founded and is lead by Maya Women and youth, whose grandparents are survivors of the Maya Genocide. They work to empower the Maya community within the states as well as visibilize the unique struggles indigenous peoples face in the context of immigration. This month, they are asking for support towards their community garden lead and organized by Ixil women in Virginia. The community garden is a way to build relationship with Mother Earth, planting their traditional plants is a way of healing and resistance. The program in Virginia is fundamental to their programming, and the funds would help strengthen communities and our fight to exist as Pueblos Mayas. #atx #poetry #spanishpoetry
