Bad Waitress is what happens when you spill your drink, flip the table, and still leave a tip. Emerging from Toronto’s vibrant underground, the four-piece punk band — Kali-Ann Butala (her/she) Katelyn Molgard (they/them) , Moon (they/he), and Nicole Cain (her/she) — has redefined modern garage punk with a sound that’s ferocious, clever, and unapologetically alive.
Their 2018 debut EP Party Bangers: Volume 1 announced them with snarling riffs, biting satire, and anthemic rawness that refused to be ignored. In 2021, the band sharpened their edge with No Taste, a full-length release that fused the urgency of early punk with jagged post-punk textures and radical honesty. Exclaim! praised the album as “a new type of rage,” calling it a self-defence record built on noise, rebellion, and conviction.
Renowned for their explosive live shows, Bad Waitress channels the confrontational spirit of acts like The Stooges, Fugazi, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs while remaining unmistakably their own. Their latest single, “Plan B” (2025), signals a grittier, self-produced next chapter.
With a new album slated for release in 2026, Bad Waitress is pushing further into louder, sharper territory — reaffirming their relentless commitment to the stage and to songs that demand participation.
Bad Waitress doesn’t play nice — they play loud. No refills. No apologies.

Introducing Everyseeker 2026, Artist in Residence, Francisco A. Lopes.
Artist Statement:
This installation, “Systematic Sound and Magic,” delves into the captivating relationship between order and chance. It is an exploration of how seemingly simple systems, in this case, multiple tape loops, can give rise to complex and unpredictable sonic phenomena. The core of the piece lies in the inherent tension between the structured nature of the tape loops—their fixed
lengths and pre-recorded content—and the emergent magic that arises from their asynchronous interaction.
Through the use of reel-to-reel tape machines, I aim to foreground the materiality of sound. The whirring of the machines, the subtle imperfections of analog playback, and the tangible presence of the tape itself become integral elements of the work. These elements, often considered limitations, are embraced as sources of richness and complexity.
The installation is an invitation to the listener to explore this dynamic interplay. As the sound loops interact, they create a constantly evolving soundscape that is both familiar and alien. Patterns emerge and dissolve, harmonies unexpectedly arise, and rhythms shift and transform, revealing a hidden magic within the system. It is this emergent quality, this sense of a world
unfolding according to its own rules, that I hope to capture and share with the audience.
“Systematic Sound and Magic” is not just a sound installation; it is a meditation on the nature of
systems, emergence, and the elusive magic that permeates our world.

Ukrainian-born, Berlin-based singer and composer GANNA (Ganna Gryniva) blends Ukrainian folk traditions, jazz-tinged arrangements, electronic soundscapes, and live looping in her solo project. Her acclaimed album UTOPIA combines ancestral melodies, ritual songs, and field recordings from Ukrainian villages with modern production, exploring themes of resilience, matriarchy, and belonging.
GANNA has performed at major European festivals including Jazzahead, WOMEX, and Reeperbahn, and toured extensively in Australia at Sydney Festival and WOMAdelaide. FUJI||||||||||TA is a Sound Artist living in Japan. His unique practice utilizes various natural phenomena that respond to his interest in wanting to hear unheard sounds and unknown sounds. Instead of playing a composed piece of music, he aims to go as far as possible towards his own unknown state of being, with an emphasis on observing the sound closely.
In 2009 Fujita hand fabricated a Pipe Organ that has only 11 pipes and no keyboard. Fujita conceived and built it using his imagination, without any prior or
specialized knowledge. The air pump (called “FUIGO”) which is kept moving by the left hand when playing, and is based on associations with an ancient blacksmith. This unique instrument is too delicate in its nature to be played properly without a great deal of experimentation and trial and error. Fujita has spent a long time inventing ways to play it and experimenting with ways to utilise this instrument in sound systems.
Since 2006 he has had many solo performances and collaborative works with musicians, including ∈Y∋ (Boredoms), Akio Suzuki, Keiji Haino, and Rashad
Becker. He has presented his sound installation works in many contexts: the work “CELL”, which made audible the sounds of black soldier fly maggots buried in dirt,
was exhibited in Sapporo International Art Festival 2017 and attracted a great deal of interest in Fujita’s artistic practice. A performance with an organ and 4 water
tanks were performed in MODE (London) in 2019. And since then he have played at various festivals and venue, including Rewire Festival (NL), Big Ears Festival
(US), Variations Festival (FR), Pioneer Works (US), Bourse de Commerce (FR), Send+Receive (CA) and Tectonics Glasgow (UK). His albums are “iki” [Hallow Ground], “KŌMORI” [Boomkat Editions] and “NOISEEM” [33-33].

Evicshen is a sound performance alias by Victoria Shen who manipulates records and materials of all kinds. Her sounds oscillate between moments of restraint and swells of frenetic and confrontational movement. Eschewing conventions in harmony and rhythm in favor of extreme textures and gestural tones, Shen uses what she calls ‘chaotic sound’ to oppose signal and information, eluding traditionally embedded meaning. Her personal identity, her body, is the space her work utilizes to restructure sonic meaning. In her live performances, she proposes an exploration between meaning and non-meaning through the physical activation of noise tropes. The appendage-like instruments and objects she makes, exemplify Shen’s ability to embody through sound her interest in the tension created by opposition: control and chaos, the unique and the mass produced, the practical and the absurd.
