SDMBAs annual Archipelago ride was this weekend. Good times as always and near perfect weather for 46mi and 5k or so vert. Swept the last segment instead of the first. Uneventful section, which is ideal!

Spent a couple bonus days in the Gabes working on an ongoing access project for @orogenesiscollective . A couple of us were able to punch through the last of the thick brush and deadfall to get through to the actual trail that needs work. But the access route still has new deadfall and growth where we had worked previously. Was able to get a good chunk of that brushed again. Soon we'll be able to start clearing the trail!

Headed up for another campout with @lowelifesrcc in the San Gabe's last weekend to work on Condor Peak trail and camp at Lightning Point. Condor is a trail they put thousands of hours into resurrecting following the Station Fire and years under closure. It's a rad trail and a highlight of @orogenesiscollective in Socal.

We based out of Idlehour trail camp and worked trail on each side of camp including a tough cliff section. If the before shots don't make sense it's because there wasn't much left of the trail!

Heading up to LA for another trail work campout on Idlehour trail with @lowelifesrcc so I guess it's about time to post last months campout. Damage to the trail was extensive in spots while large sections just needed cleanup and re-benching. Good times as always 🤘

Snuck in a solo overnighter on the solstice right before a series of storms rolled in. Unseasonably warm temps and a spectacular sunrise over the desert were a great way to close out the year.

Pics from a couple rides in Tucson. I wanted to do a big ride including both 50 Yr and the Torts but was late getting in, so I did Torts on the way through Tucson the first time and 50 Yr on the way back through. Got a killer sunset and some night miles each time!

The other big AZ ride on my recent trip was the Tombstone Hustle route in the Dragoon mountains. I cut out a bunch of road riding by taking Middlemarch pass which was perfect for my timing, putting me onto the Cochise Stronghold trail just after dark.
I camped half way up the climb. Beautiful night with super dark skies. The next day I dropped down the west side and pedaled south to my truck on scenic forest roads, stopping to check out a few side trails on my map. Those were a mixed bag but it was nice to check them out.
The route had awesome scenery and great riding. I will be back!

Last AZ stop back in April was Pinal Mtn above Globe. Wanted to hit 3 trails, but 3 laps in one day is a pipedream without a dedicated shuttle driver. So I did a full lap on Telephone, then a second lap I dropped Icehouse I climbed back up the top part on lap 2 after Icehouse, climbed back up part of Telephone and then ended on Six Shooter. It won't be another 10yrs before I'm back again. Huge thanks to @tontogravityriders for all the work getting these back into great riding shape. They are building new trail as well!

After the Chiricahuas back in April I headed a bit north to Mt Graham, another spot that has been on my list for ages. Rode the Graham Cracker route. It's a burly ride even as a shuttle and I ran out of daylight (shocker!) 😂

The other ride on my April list was the new Coronado Gold route in the @arizonaenduranceseries which includes the new singletrack between Patagonia and Kentucky Camp. Riding from town i added in the new to me Train Track trail along Hwy 82. Great route, though I was glad to ride it CCW. It will be harder doing the AZTR! And the ATA is building more singletrack to bypass all the jeep road north of Kentucky Camp. AZT just keeps getting better!

I had planned to self shuttle Red Ridge down to 50 Yr the next day but after finishing Lemmon drop and driving back up to retrieve the moto i decided to stay up top and do a loop. That shuttle would require two return trips up the mtn at 90min each way.
Instead I grabbed a campsite up at Bigelow and opted to ride Red Ridge and back up Oracle Ridge. My first time on Red so I rode it all the way down to where it intersected CDO. Then back up Catalina Camp to Oracle Ridge. Oracle was as burly as ever. Fortunately the golden hour light was amazing. With a late start I got back to the truck just after sunset.
