It has begun 🥳 The 5th Golden Girls Musical is officially in pre-production! I might just be starting to put the show on paper right now, but the story began its birth over a year ago and has been cooped up in my brain until now (a wild place, wouldn't recommend).

IT’S OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL! Our household is growing!
Short Story: Eric and Hunter are having a baby in 2025/2026!
Now… how did we get here? Like every cheesy 80’s movie, “we have to take you back a ways.”
In 2021, Eric and I started the surrogacy journey only to be met by roadblock after roadblock with sticker shock, fees that kept increasing or being discovered last minute, IVF that failed and had to be redone, several personal loans, and being bounced around from attorney to attorney (one that retired, one that got fired, and one that wasn't qualified). All of this was alongside moving houses and navigating unforeseen barriers while opening the cafe, we had to reluctantly put surrogacy on pause.
Once we got our footing we made the pivot to infant adoption which required coursework, continuing education, social work visits to clear the house and us psychologically, doctors visits for medical clearance, mountains of paperwork, fingerprinting… the list goes on (including being placed on "pause" twice). After we were finally approved we sat and patiently waited for *the* phone call for over a year. We heard nothing except when more payments were due.
Meanwhile our surrogacy center had reached out and shared that they found the perfect surrogate for us and asked us to reconsider surrogacy. We met our surrogate and adored her! We were officially "matched," and off we went through legal clearances, testing, checking insurances, and getting our ducks in a row.
Finally, this past week (in the midst of tech week!!), Eric and I received our green light clearance for surrogacy to begin. Now comes the final testing and official transfer of embryos – we know there are sure to be more hurdles to overcome down the road, but we are SO excited to be nearly over the hill in this process of becoming parents (hopefully) within the next year.
