I actually like this one quite a bit, and I’m glad I can end this journal on a good note. Overall it was a great exercise, and I think I’m ready to start working on something more substantial, which I think might have been the point.
All credit for the journal idea goes to @benlevinmusic , whose songwriting course I borrowed this from. The constraints and posting weren’t part of the original task, but added to help me work on things I wanted to personally get better at.
If you are an art person, I recommend doing this. It’s a lot of fun to just make things for the sake of making things!
This was the first day I wrote without any constraints, and what I have is without doubt the least interesting thing I’ve written all week. I don’t know what or if this means anything, but it’s a jam so whatever.
I sing in this one (poorly). This is the first time I’ve ever posted anything with me singing, so go easy please lol. I figured giving it a go would be a nice challenge, and it felt good to do it.

uneven floors,
old broken doors
stain me all the same
and it will rain until
I learn how to fill
these holes
with my own
two hands
The second verse is just hummed because I ran out of time to write another.
I wasn’t going to post this because I don’t think it’s that good, but @michaelocmusic talked me into it. The point of this journal isn’t to make pieces, it’s just to let myself make *anything* over the course of an hour in the interest of exercising my creativity.
Definitely some ideas nested in here worth exploring later, but probably not gonna make the cut on an album any time soon lol.
