My lyrics are written the way they are on purpose, sometimes appearing vague, applying to many situations, feelings.
Why?
I do it so that they can be accessed more easily, more relatable, more adapted for anyone who cares to listen and think about them. Sadness, happiness, resolve, anger, all universal concepts that we find in universal situations.
Music divided into two parts, the music, and the language, always invites you to pay more attention to one rather than the other, and like all great loves they always shine when they come together, even if they can exist on their own.
"All"
You were standing on the the edge of your life
I was just an observer
and when you jumped I couldn't stay there and do nothing
you already had me
you had me
All or nothing at all
will leave you with empty hands
searching in darkness
for something to hold onto
I was waiting for you to wake up
Told myself it was a matter of time
You change your mind so fast
and I don't know what you're thinking
are you done here?
Are you done with me?
All or nothing at all
Will leave you with empty hands
searching in darkness
for something to hold onto
we say things we don't mean
we clip our own wings
we stand on the edge
but we can never see the bottom
All or nothing at all
Will leave you with empty hands
searching in darkness
for something to hold onto
I'm distracted by a thousand people cramming up into a small club, Jimmy hands me the lyric, I miss it, then I put his name into the next lyric...and then we all sing...
The last time I was @ the The Rhumb Line was Thursday March 12th 2020, the day before we went into emergency mode. It was great to be there again last night with friends Benny Benson and Dave Sag, and a big thanks to everyone who came out, including Nancy for taking this photo.
Much love.
The St. Barths bucket happened last weekend. I missed it this year.
The club is gone.
Jimmy is gone.
The community is gone.
If it's gone just let it go.
Maybe see you tomorrow night in Gloucester.
