I am so proud of Two Artists Talking, our book of interviews with accomplished Boston artists! We are delighted that Cate McQuaid wrote about it! @cate.mcquaid is so thoughtful and open-minded, and we are so fortunate to have her in the Boston region. Look up her Substack if you don’t already know it, and she also writes @bostonglobelife@two.artists.talking can be purchased @praise.shadows.art , @icastore , and @isgmgift . Artists @mccall.hollister and @cassidywestjohn were the visionaries who made it a beautiful object in addition to an essential guide to some of Boston’s best artists.
Eva Lundsager creates deep, immersive space through layered horizon lines, bold swaths of color, and subterranean forms that suggest a world distinct from our own. Leaning into our capacity to assign meaning to what we see, her work opens space for imagination and the fantastic.
We are delighted to include two paintings by Eva in our current exhibition, A Breathing Solitude. The show remains on view through Friday, April 24—stop by to experience the work in person.

I don’t know about you, but my head is spinning. It feels like events are accelerating and everything is compressing. So I look to the things people don’t control, the lines waves make on the sand, the point where the treetops meet the sky, and always, the horizon.
Working with Jim Stroud on these monotypes has been a joy, he takes so much care, doing many tests, finding exactly the right paper. You can see some of them at the @ifpda print fair in NYC, through the weekend. The series is titled Presence, watercolor monotype, 24 x 35 inches. @centerstreetstudio
Thank you all so much for coming out and showing your support last night at our book launch party. Between the three of us, we couldn’t have been more proud by the community of artists and readers.

Stay tuned for more exciting news coming soon!!
While teaching the class that Two Artists Talking came out of, I was lucky enough to interview Jamal Thorne in his studio. Jamal, in addition to being an incredible artist, creating large, complex drawings, is also an inspiring educator; I’ve seen him in action, in conversation with students. He spoke to me about his own student days, where he started out in photography: “I started with photography because I didn’t think I could draw. It wasn’t until I got to my first drawing class that I had a teacher who taught me that I could draw and it’s an enjoyable experience, this meditative space that you enter when you shrink your world down to this one inch by one inch square. Before I knew it, I didn’t just want to take pictures, I wanted to draw pictures.” Jamal’s drawings talk about our times, and the interview gets into it, it is not to be missed. Jamal will be signing books at the launch of Two Artists Talking on Friday @praise.shadows.art , you can find him on Instagram @ajani_peace@two.artists.talking@cassidywestjohn@mccall.hollister

Thank you @rivalryprojects for including my work in A Breathing Solitude. The title is taken from an essay written by artist Michael Brennan, quoting Jake Berthot describing how he worked “to paint silence before it completely disappears”. First image is my work and Megan Green, second and third are me and Hayley Carrow. Also included are Peter Stephens, Rodney Taylor, and Jake Berthot.
Really amazing conversation today between @emmasmacleodart and @evalundsager , two brilliant and generous artists. It was inspiring to hear them speak about their everyday practices and how their work connects to presence, experience, meditation, mindfulness, and material.
Thank you to all who came out!
“I try not to critique myself about why I make it (the drawings) I just try to make it about the experience”

Thank you @centerstreetstudio for working with me on new monotypes, these build on works paper I made @emilyharveyfoundation residency in Venice in October. They will be shown at the McNay Museum Print Fair in San Antonio this weekend, March 7 and 8. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Jim Stroud at Center Street Studio, he takes such care with everything, is incredibly knowledgeable, and truly a Master Printer. #mcnayprintfair #mcnayartmuseum #mcnay
