✍🏽Hello! Welcome to my Instagram
I'm Eva Verde, an East London now Essex Girl, and published author; with two novels, four anthologies and one dream foreword to my name.
During the 2020 summer lockdown, thanks to my amazing agent, my debut novel was preempted at auction by Simon and Schuster. Magical stuff indeed, yet because of my atrocious self confidence and shyness, caught for too long by the negative opinions of others which had stretched across so much of my life, though I believed wholeheartedly in the brilliant book I'd written, I couldn't seem to match that belief in me as a person. The terror of any sort of spotlight or public speaking felt impossible obstacles to even consider...Which is why four years on, it's so important that I keep banging on about it, because if I can do this, SO ABSOLUTELY CAN YOU.
What changed? A lot was to with the gift of opportunity - as writers we know the hoops, rejections, neverending rewrites, perseverance and determination to break through. I'd worked too hard to achieve what had at times often felt the impossible dream. And I was determined to give my book the shot it deserved. Wasn't it time to listen to my gut rather than the wicked inner voice? The changes in me have been astronomical - but oh the endurance it takes to find your own worth and keep it treasured.
I've created a life and a career I'm deeply proud of. Can hand on heart say authenticity is key. This is me and it's all ok.
Believe in you, please. Imagine if I hadn't. I'd be a frustrated little knot of unexplored creativity, keeping to the shadows, believing all the people I shouldn't.
Everybody who has ever felt different or less or on the outside looking in, I welcome and encourage to grow along with me. Everybody who dreams, creates, who struggles to fit and conform will forever be my people. I beg you listen to your ambitious heart. Don't die wondering.
Just let yourself bloom 🌱🪻
And I hope you enjoy my books 💕

🌱🪻Publication Day: When outstanding moments collide - even my wild imagination couldn't have conjured this arch of floral majesty, the cherry on top my dear nephew Robin sporting an #InBloom t-shirt which led to the first tears, giving way for such emotion I think I cried through most of my party. It is both incredibly special and overwhelming to receive such love for me and my book and I don't have anything else to say right now apart from thank you with my whole heart Andrew @dial_lane_books for putting on such a stellar party. It'll take days to unwind and restore my puffy emotional face to normal, but totally totally worth it.
Thank you for making all my publication dreams come true 🌱And thank you too for everyone I'm blessed to share this connection with, championing me and my books🪻

Books and food make the best combination! And conversation, too. It's all been completely wonderful heading to Bristol to attend the first @howyoufindyourvoice book club-supper club, with Them Girls as their first chosen read. The menu inspired by Vee and Goldie's French adventure was super delicious. And the reader response to Them Girls will live in my heart (and hopefully power me on getting to grips with writing something new too)
I won't forget this roomful of brilliant people in a hurry. Thank you for making me feel so very welcome - and thank you enormously HYFYV 🧡

Just one day to go until we get to sit down with the brilliant Eva Verde to talk about Vee, Goldie and the cast of Them Girls at the first ever Book & Supper Club!
I thought this book was brilliant! It covers so many meaty and thought-provoking themes, but it’s also very funny. I also feel like Vee and Goldie are real people now, so it’s going to be fascinating finding out exactly how Eva Verde went about creating such believable characters.
I’ve been getting lots of good feedback about the book, with people saying that they loved it. I’m really looking forward to finding out what everyone thought and to chat to Eva about it.
If you’ve already got a ticket, see you there! If you haven’t and you’re feeling FOMO there are a couple of seats left. Join us!

Happy Saturdays 🧡
The sun is shining, the weekend awaits, and to celebrate The Common Ground Nature Writing Prize is open for entries until Monday, so get your brilliant, beautiful, heartfelt, powerful, political or just downright pretty words over before the deadline.
Nature is all around no matter where you live - you don't even have to be a nature writer to enter!
As our Founder/Director @natashacarthewofficial says: 'I set this prize up to disperse the stereotype of what it means to be a nature writer and to support underrepresented writers in the early stages of their careers.'
If this is you, then this is your time to shine ☀️
I cannot wait to read this year's entries 💛

🎙️Book Review🎙️
Today it’s my stop on the blog tour for Them Girls by @evakinderwrites
Sisters Goldie and Vee decide to take a trip to France but when secrets are revealed will they bring them closer together or tear them apart.
This was a really interesting and thought provoking read. I found this to be a slow burn read but that helped me to connect with Goldie and Vee and set the foundations for what was to come in the story. The storyline is about sisterhood, resilience and speaking your truth.
Goldie and Vee might be sisters but they’ve taken very different paths in life. Vee is a freelance researcher and copy editor in the publishing industry who dreams of becoming a writer. She is organised and methodical. Goldie shot to fame as a popstar in the 90’s when she was a teenager. She is someone who takes a chance and follows her dreams. The one thing that the sisters have in common is they are both hard working and have a desire to succeed. They come from a very humble background where they were raised by their grandmother and it’s their background that has spurred them on to be successful.
It’s when Vee and Goldie’s circumstances change that the sisters are brought together. Goldie hasn’t been happy in her marriage to Benedict and she finally decides to leave him and Vee finds out that her ex-husband Jamie is dating her school bully Julia. I really loved learning more about each of the sisters and it was interesting to see how their life experiences had shaped them into the women that they had become. Goldie was a teenage pop star whose career was flourishing until it came to an abrupt end. Goldie thought she had left her old life behind until it catches up with her. it’s through Goldie’s narrative that the reader learns that her time in the music industry wasn’t glamorous and she was exploited at a young age. When scandal from the music world resurfaces Goldie makes the brave decision to speak out for the first time. My heart broke for Vee when she learned that Julia was back in her life and it was infuriating to see how Jamie appeared to take Julia’s side over Vee’s without knowing all of the facts.
