🌀CYCLE, PORTAL, PATH🌀 The exhibition Cycle, Portal, Path offers a contemporary reflection on Hilma af Klint’s exploration of the relationship between science, nature and spiritual life 100 years after her passing. The 11 artists in this exhibition embody what af Klint herself conveyed: the courage to make the invisible visible and to give shape to a world in motion. Through meditative drawings and video installations, abstract paintings and AI-generated images, the artists reflect on new technologies, spiritual movements, ecology and the connection between then, now and future generations. With the amazing Loie Hollowell, Kyara van Meel, Jochem Mestriner, Katja Novitskova, Remco Osório Lobato, Molly Palmer, Buhlebezwe Siwani, Emma Talbot, Jennifer Tee, Johanna Unzueta & Ulla Wiggen. Cycle, Portal, Path was created in conversation with @laurastamps from Kunstmuseum Den Haag and @yasmijnjarram from KM21🫶 Made together with @clarakami after an idea by @hesketencate with the great team of Nest @nestruimte 🩷 On view until January 7! 📷 @lottevanuittert

EN: ☀️🕳️ Who is able to go on a vacation, and who stays at home during the summer? Not everyone experiences the summer holiday as a period of rest and relaxation. The way leisure time is spent depends on social, economic, and cultural circumstances, and says something about acces and (in)equality. With 𝘖𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 (𝘚𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦), Nest focusses on those staying at home. How do they spend their time, and what role does their immediate environment play in this? At the Helsinki Biennial, art and nature did not compete but met in a shared longing to belong on this earth. The questions of sustainability and the role of biennials felt both urgent and inspiring. The curators, together with the artists, sought subtlety, humility and a worldly sensitivity in a posthuman, decentralised way that allowed nature itself to speak. We hearded trees in distress, animals finding water, ancestors singing among the branches, and fossilised trees speaking. Thank you, @helsinkibiennial . 1. @piasiren_artist 2. En 3. 🧵🧵🧵From 23–27 June, @nestruimte becomes a shared studio for collective memory-work. Together with artist @marcoslah , we’ll create a monumental tapestry on South Holland’s colonial history — from extractive ideologies to institutions that shaped and legitimised them. The tapestry doesn’t only look back. Moving from historical motifs toward the centre, space opens for dreaming, and futures shaped by care rather than conquest. 🪡🪡🪡No experience needed — just attention and a willingness to work together. Daily sessions include talks, workshops, and conversations that connect past injustices to present realities. This project is part of ‘Draden van ons Nederlandse slavernijverleden’, initiated by Ricardo Burgzorg and Hedy Tjin in Groningen. Every province contributes a locally rooted panel; together, they form one collective, layered monument. 📍 Free entry. Materials provided. All welcome. Program highlights (plz rsvp)
23 June – Making session with Marcos Kueh and key note by Martine Gosselink (director @mauritshuis_museum )
24 June – Workshop Carlien Macnack + debate with De Balie on Tour @de_balie
25 June – Kids session + Laura Snijders
26 June – Making session with Jasmine Boeve
27 June – Making session with Jiahao Li
