What happens to a Birkenstock when it can’t be repaired anymore?
Beyond Repair begins with that question, alongside more than 5000 pairs of footwear Birkenstock Australia repairs each year. Replacing footbeds, renewing soles, extending the life of objects people have worn for years.
But as that network grows, so does what it leaves behind.
Eva and Birkenstock Australia have been asking what this material can become. The answer is unexpected, tactile and on show at Eva’s Carlton House showroom as part of Melbourne Design Week. A material research exhibition built on a single refusal: to call a work cork footbed finished.
Visitors are invited to handle the material directly - to understand where it came from, what it took to get here and what might be next.
Entry is free and open to the public, from May 14 - 24

This year, we’re choosing rest – not as a luxury, but as a habit worth keeping.
Because when good sleep becomes the resolution, everything else gets easier.
Join us this January as we share simple ways to build better sleep habits, for healthier, happier days.

Shown in Pearl, the Eclipse custom tri-weave fabric blends bouclé and chenille yarns to create a soft, tactile finish with depth of colour. Functional luxury. Timeless form, practical details, and comfort that lasts.
5,000 pairs repaired every year. And then what?
Beyond Repair opens today at Eva Carlton House. A free exhibition born from the question Birkenstock Australia and Eva couldn’t stop asking: what do you do with cork that’s given everything it had?
The answer is on the walls. Come experience it for yourself.
Free entry, 14-24 May. 186 Faraday St, Carlton.

We've never seen so many paws in one weekend 🐾
We had the best time hosting free Pet Pawtraits across our Carlton and Surry Hills showrooms this Mother's Day.
A big thank you to @scoutshonour_ for kitting out our guests with patches and bandanas on the day, and to @lykapetfood and @remedydrinks for the treats and kombucha.
The Scout's Honour pop-up is still live in both showrooms this week. Pop on in and spoil your favourite furry friend.
Last week we hosted our Small Living Support Group at @eva Carlton House in Melbourne 🤩
Thanks to everyone who joined us for an evening of thoughtful conversation around living small!
Not every home needs more space. Sometimes it just needs the right pieces.
@rymondtn , founder of @duabakehouse and @raya.melbourne , has mastered the art of hosting in a compact Melbourne apartment. Modular furniture that moves with you and a sofa that works as hard as you do.

Come and discover the process from start to finish in the Beyond Repair exhibition at Eva Carlton House as part of Melbourne Design Week. Touch the material. Understand where it came from and what it took to get here.
Entry is free and open to the public, from May 14-24.

Creating my dream bedroom, starting with a much needed bed upgrade ☁️ I wanted the space to feel cozy, minimal, and somewhere I’m actually excited to come home to.
I went with the @eva Delve bed frame and Comfort Classic mattress and I’ve already been having the best sleep.
Stay tuned for part 2 of finishing off the space but honestly, it already feels pretty perfect 🤎

Beyond Repair is a material research exhibition created with @birkenstockau , opening at Eva’s Carlton House showroom on May 14. It starts with a simple question: what happens to a Birkenstock when it can’t be repaired anymore?
The result is something unexpected and tactile, built on a single refusal to call a worn cork footbed finished.
Come in, handle the materials and see for yourself.
Melbourne Design Week runs 14–24 May 2026 across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Entry is free and open to the public.
