I don’t normally make posts for my moms death anniversary, but I guess this 8th year is hitting harder. It still feels like she’s a phone call away most days. That picture of me tattooing a rose was my first time tattooing anyone, and it was her ankle. She got a good amount from me in my apprenticeship, and was my biggest supporter from the day I was born. It’s a different kind of grief when your parent leaves you unexpectedly after years of being your closest ally. Our relationship was messy, and she was the black sheep, but she was my best friend. Today feels really heavy, and I hope she’s somewhere on the other side, proud of me and in my corner as the ride or die she always was. Miss you momma. Thank you for being by my side for 22 years rain or shine. Wherever you are, know that I miss you always.
