Thrilled to share that advance releases of 𝘈𝘶𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘜𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘮: 𝘛𝘰𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘢 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘪𝘢 are out! . Published by AR+D @ard_publishing / ORO Editions @oro_editions , the two-volume, 480-page monograph is a culmination of years of research, writing, design, and production. The book will be launched on O͟c͟t͟ ͟2͟3͟r͟d as a public lecture at NYIT School of Architecture & Design, stay tuned for more details to come. . Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are appearing on our roads, representing the next technological disruption to our mobility systems. While their long-term spatial implications remain largely underestimated, this book argues that AVs offer a major opportunity to rethink our city’s built environments—with profound implications on urban life since automobiles replaced horse-powered travel and changed the design of cities in the prior century. However, driverless vehicles also risk reinforcing many of the negative effects of auto-based urbanism including urban sprawl, single-function infrastructure, congestion, and environmental degradation. Instead, this book proposes a driverless mobility paradigm shift that moves cities away from automobile dependency towards automated mass transit and mobility as a service. In this two-volume set, one book depicts the narrative experience of this future city through the format of an architectural graphic novel. The other lays the framework for that speculative future, grounding it in urban mobility history, transportation policies, and multi-scalar spatial typologies. By envisioning this future guided by design and policy actions, this book contends that cities can transition from the Autopias of today, to the Transitopias of tomorrow. This is a big shift. Are cities and their inhabitants ready? . . . #book #mongraph #advances #publication #autonomousvehicles #driverless #urban #futures #mobility #transportation #research #design #autonomousurbanism

Exquisitely detailed, layered, and colorful multi-cut “wedding cake” Axonometric drawings from my 5th year B.Arch thesis students @nyit.architecture this semester! Super proud of their projects examining the adaptive reuse of legacy mono-functional industrial buildings from NYC’s metropolitan post-industrial landscape. Multi-cut drawings expose a careful spatial calibration and tectonic dialogue between new insertions into old infrastructural forms prompted by multi-performative programs as speculative catalysts for industrial afterlives . Like it or not, we are all on the A.I. train so this semester, I prompted my 5th year B.Arch Thesis students @nyit.architecture to integrate A.I. into their visualization workflows as a tool for world-building speculative futures for their thesis projects exploring the adaptive reuse of industrial mono-functional infrastructures to give them new leases on life. The result, some amazingly atmospheric and cinematic renderings blurring the line between architecture and storytelling shown here! . Got a chance to stop by the Center for Architecture’s @centerforarch summer exhibitions opening event yesterday — honored and grateful to AIA NY for awarding my book 𝘈𝘶𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘜𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘮 (AR+D) a 2026 Project Merit Design Award and for featuring it in this year’s AIA NY Design Awards Exhibition, amongst some other amazing built projects! . From the awards jury: “Autonomous vehicles are appearing on the streets, and they’re going to impact how cities are built. This book offers not just an analysis but a proposal, something we can understand and plan for instead of just undergoing” . Exhibition runs from May 7 - September 2, 2026 Exhibition Graphic Design by World . . . + /architecture/awards/aiany-design-awards-2026 + /exhibitions/aiany-design-awards-2026 . #AutonomousUrbanism #AIANY #DesignAwards2026 #ProjectMerit #OculusMagazine

Finally received in the mail, our report publication documenting the prolific results of our 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 conducted at Korea University @kus_smartcity last summer! . The report captures not just the outcomes of an intensive week of experimentation with students, but a broader pedagogical experiment in cross-institutional collaboration and pedagogical hybridity. Through the integration of A.I. into urban-scale design methodologies, the work critically engages the dominant smart city paradigm and foregrounds the role of the designer as a critical author in shaping technological processes, reframing values and priorities, and proposing alternative urban futures for our cities. . Looking forward to giving a lecture at Politecnico di Milano @polimi in a few weeks, thanks to the kind invitation of my dear colleague Prof. Fabiano Lemes de Oliveira @flemes ! . My lecture 𝗛𝘆𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 & 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 will explore notions of multi-disciplinary systems-thinking across several of my studio’s collaborative design-research projects, arguing for new forms of public space for the future of cities and their landscapes, grounded in ecological co-dependencies, infrastructural reuse, and expanded definitions of the commons. . We are excited to announce an Open Call for contributions to the project 𝗠𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗗𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗚𝗜𝗘𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: 𝗔 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗸𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀, a forthcoming edited book and open-access digital web-repository! . Methodologies operate as critical frameworks for codifying design problems, structuring processes & tools, and establishing criteria for implementation into actionable outcomes. Yet too often, methodologies remain siloed, lacking a shared language or collective toolkit for exchange, comparison, and adaptation between new contexts. This call invites design educators, practitioners, and researchers to submit methodologies that they have developed that rethink how the architecture and allied disciplines generate knowledge and are produced, operationalized, and implemented. Selected contributions will form an edited volume and open-access, shared-resource repository that collectively maps, compares, and disseminates diverse methodological approaches across multi-scalar and inter-disciplinary contexts. . For further details & the submission link, please see: /forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfkJuynzgksTFjV0UAI3TEhxw7DUzznusl5vr-VpYkMAgAw5A/viewform . . .
