This weekend, the European Writers’ Festival returns to the British Library, bringing together writers from across Europe for two days of conversations and readings.
As part of #EuropeMonth2026, we are proud to support a festival that celebrates the power of storytelling to connect cultures, challenge perspectives and explore the issues shaping Europe today — from identity and democracy to nature and freedom of expression.
Join us in celebrating the richness and diversity of European literature in London this weekend.
The Festival was organised by @euniclondon@eurolitnet@europeanwritersuk and @britishlibrary , supported @epinuk and @euinuk .
Special thank you to @cyprus_in_uk for hosting the opening reception and to @rosiegoldsmith1 for curating the festival.

🇪🇺🇬🇧 “We are neighbours by geography and partners by choice.”
Watch highlights from the speeches delivered by EU Ambassador Pedro Serrano, Cabinet Office Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds MP and Europe Minister Stephen Doughty MP at our Europe Day reception in London.
Their messages reflected the importance of EU–UK partnership, cooperation and the strong ties that continue to connect people on both sides of the Channel.
European writers and stories take centre stage in London this weekend.
As part of #EuropeMonth2026, we support the European Writers’ Festival at the British Library. Writers from across Europe will gather for conversations, readings and panels exploring the ideas shaping our world today.

Over four years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. What was meant to weaken Europe strengthened our unity.
Ukraine stands firm. Europe stands with Ukraine.
Russia’s aggression was a strategic miscalculation and our support to Ukraine remains steadfast.
The path to peace is clear: intensifying pressure on Russia while increasing support for Ukraine.
🏃♂️🇪🇺 Team Europe Run in Hyde Park!
To celebrate Europe Day, colleagues from the EU Delegation and EU Member States ran together in London — because Europe is built on connection, teamwork and shared experiences 💙
And did you know? Erasmus+ is not only about student exchanges. From 2027, the UK’s return to Erasmus+ will also create new opportunities in sport — supporting grassroots organisations, coaches, volunteering and cross-border cooperation.
Team Europe on the move!
🏃🏃♀️To celebrate Europe Day, colleagues from the EU Delegation and EU Member States came together in Hyde Park today as Team Europe.
Because Europe is not just about policies — it’s about people and shared experiences.
Did you know? With the UK set to rejoin Erasmus+ from 2027, even more opportunities are opening up for young people — in education, training and sport. Erasmus+ sport actions promote physical activity, social inclusion, and volunteering by funding projects that foster cross-border cooperation among grassroots sports organizations.
Key opportunities include staff mobility e.g. coaching or job shadowing, capacity building and much more.

Happy #EuropeDay! 🇪🇺
Ambassador Pedro Serrano has been looking forward to answering your questions, and he even brought two special guests to join him: Nick-Thomas Symonds and Stephen Doughty. Let’s just say their reading choices seem very much aligned, and not only… 📚
So, how are you celebrating Europe today? 💡💙
At our Europe Day reception, guests were welcomed with a flash mob performance of Ode to Joy by the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra. 🇪🇺
Today, we celebrate not just an anthem, but the vision born 76 years ago with the Schuman Declaration.
“Europe will not be made all at once, or according to a single plan. It will be built through concrete achievements which first create a de facto solidarity.”
— Robert Schuman
“What is Europe to you?”
Marking Europe Day we opened a thought-provoking photo exhibition at Europe House by artist and curator Lisa Borgiani.
As part of #EuropeMonth2026, the exhibition brings together voices from citizens across Europe. It explores faces, stories, and emotions that highlight both our diversity and shared humanity.
The exhibition is open throughout May at the 12 Star Gallery of Europe House.
🇪🇺 One venue. 27 European Member states. One unforgettable journey.
This Europe Day, “Visit Europe in One Day” transformed London into a celebration of Europe’s cultures, languages and traditions. Bringing the spirit of unity in diversity all under one roof ✨
On Europe Day, we opened our doors to the public in London with “Visit Europe in One Day” — a celebration of Europe’s cultural diversity and unity.
As part of #EuropeMonth2026, and together with the European Parliament Liaison Office, the European Investment Bank and EU Member States, we welcomed visitors for an interactive showcase of cultures, languages, tourism and traditions from across EU Member States.
Guests had the opportunity to engage directly with embassies and EU institutions, discover what makes each country unique, and experience Europe’s shared values and rich cultural heritage — all in one place.
During the afternoon, our guests also enjoyed a special 🎶 performance by @lauraperibanez & @mariacanyigueral kindly supported by the Instituto Cervantes.
