In September 2024, while in the USA, I had the privilege of attending the Sing! Conference at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville through the generosity of my big brother and mentor, Rev. Ernest Nii Okai Okai.
What I expected to be simply a music conference became something much deeper. It felt less like a gathering of musicians and more like a gathering of pastors, theologians, evangelists, and servants of Christ who also sing.
Scripture was central. The songs flowed from deep theological reflection. And one thing that deeply marked me was the spirit of kingdom generosity. Though the conference was founded by one person, it did not feel as though it was about him. Many differently gifted ministers were welcomed into the vision without insecurity or competition. Christ, not personality, remained at the center.
That experience stirred something deeply in me.
I believe Ghanaian Christian music, in its own unique contribution, can and must be marked by theological depth, biblical clarity, and gospel-rich insight. Such a contribution would greatly bless the Church globally, especially across Africa, where depth is urgently needed.
My prayer is that the Lord, in His mercy, will make me a faithful vessel and allow me to play a part in such a move.
