What should education really teach for a career in social innovation? đź’
ESIC’s Skills Monitor offers some answers, mapping 35 key competencies based on insights from students, educators, and practitioners.
🔍 Students shared how well their programmes build these skills
🎓 Educators reflected on what truly matters in teaching
🌍 Practitioners highlighted what’s needed in the real world
Why does this matter? Because we need social innovators to build a sustainable future, but many still lack the practical skills to turn ideas into real impact. Additionally, research on the skills needed in this field is scarce. The Skills Monitor addresses these gaps.

✨ Spotlight on Impact: Leonie Bank
As part of the AI Tides journey with the Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise, we’re celebrating women who are strengthening ecosystems, empowering communities, and driving systemic change.
🌍 Meet Leonie Bank: Board Member of the @ingnederland fonds and former Operations & Programme Manager at @socialenterprisenl
Throughout her career, Leonie has worked closely with social entrepreneurs and changemakers committed to building a more inclusive and sustainable society.
At Social Enterprise NL, she supported a thriving community of more than 430 social enterprises across the Netherlands through mentoring, masterclasses, knowledge exchange, and ecosystem-building initiatives designed to help impact-driven organisations grow stronger together.
đź’ˇ Today, through her role at the ING Netherlands Fund, Leonie continues supporting initiatives that help people build greater economic independence and participation in society.
The organisation focuses on three key challenges:
• Digital independence
• Financial health
• Access to employment opportunities
🤝 The ING Netherlands Fund invests in promising social entrepreneurs and foundations working to improve inclusion and economic resilience, particularly for people facing barriers to improving their situation without support. Through donations and interest-free loans, the fund helps organisations scale their impact and strengthen long-term sustainability.
✨ What continues to inspire Leonie most is the determination of social entrepreneurs to challenge systems and create meaningful change, often against the odds.
She sees social enterprises as true leaders of system change and hopes even more women will continue to believe in themselves as changemakers and leaders in the future.
Because stronger societies are built when everyone has the opportunity to participate, thrive, and shape change together.

✨ Spotlight on Impact: Sofie Nordstrom
As part of the AI Tides journey with the Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise, we’re celebrating women who are driving systemic change and creating more equitable futures.
🌍 Meet Sofie Nordström, co-founder and Deputy CEO of @quiz_rr
At the intersection of social sustainability, human rights, and technology, Sofie has spent the last two decades working to improve conditions across global value chains. With experience spanning corporate responsibility, human rights due diligence, and ESG, she has worked closely with companies, deep-impact organisations, and supply chains around the world.
đź’ˇ Through years of living and working in countries such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Turkey, Sofie saw firsthand the urgent need for accessible, engaging, and scalable education to address human rights challenges in the workplace.
So she helped build a solution.
🚀 In 2013, Sofie co-founded Quizrr: an independent ed-tech pioneer making learning accessible and inclusive for employees worldwide, while helping businesses proactively tackle human rights issues in their supply chains.
🤝 Quizrr’s work focuses on some of the most pressing global challenges of our time:
• Eradicating forced labour and modern slavery
• Promoting equality and non-violent behaviour
• Tackling harassment through education and awareness
• Supporting more sustainable and responsible business practices
✨ Sofie’s mission is clear: use technology and education to empower people, protect human rights, and create safer, more equal workplaces worldwide.
Because meaningful change starts with awareness but grows through action.

✨ Spotlight on Impact: Ines Bensalem
As part of the AI Tides journey with the Top 100 Women in Social Enterprise, we’re celebrating women who are breaking barriers and reimagining access to opportunity.
🎬 Meet @delabens - entrepreneur, producer & film director.
From award-winning short films and international festival selections to producing documentaries and fiction, Ines has built her path both behind and in front of the camera. But her story goes beyond creative success…
đź’ˇ After 8 years in the audiovisual industry, she saw a clear problem:
Too many talented creators are locked out: no network, no access, no visibility.
So she took action.
🚀 Ines co-founded @onsetforartists - a smart matching platform connecting creators, artists, and technicians with the right opportunities and collaborators.
🌍 Today, Onset brings together 13,000+ creatives across France and Belgium - opening doors in audiovisual, performing arts, and photography.
🤝 Her mission?
To make the creative industry more inclusive, accessible, and connected — especially for young people, women, and those from underrepresented communities.
✨ Because talent is everywhere. Opportunity should be too.
