@utcbro has successfully hosted two Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes!
41 international students and staff from 10 Erasmus+ partner universities were welcomed in Bucharest for two innovative programmes:
🔹Eco-Physics in Construction for a Sustainable Future
🔹Applied Physics in Construction: from Bio-Generation to Energy Insulation
These BIPs brought together participants from across Europe to explore sustainable solutions in construction, combining physics, engineering, and creativity in an international environment.
📚 The experience blended:
✔️ Virtual preparation sessions
✔️ Hands-on laboratory activities (bio-energy lab & insulation box challenges)
✔️ Technical visits (including ELI-NP and EFdeN Sustainable Houses)
✔️ Cultural experiences in Bucharest
✔️ Final team projects addressing real-world sustainability challenges
💡A special highlight was the physics laboratories, where students:
• Generated electricity using microbial fuel cells from soil
• Tested and compared thermal insulation materials
• Collected and analyzed real experimental data
• Transformed lab results into innovative sustainable building solutions
🤝 Beyond academics, the programmes fostered intercultural exchange, collaboration, and new friendships, reinforcing the spirit of Erasmus+.

¡AlgaeQuest, un ejemplo de liderazgo de estudiantes!
Juan Caicedo y Daniel Alejandro López, alumnos de Ciencias del Mar y de Biotecnología respectivamente, han liderado y coordinado al 100% el primer proyecto científico desarrollado íntegramente por estudiantes y financiado completamente por la alianza europea EU-CONEXUS.
🔬 ¿El objetivo? Explorar el potencial de las micro y macroalgas en el ámbito de la biotecnología y la sostenibilidad.
📊 El proyecto comenzó con 60 participantes procedentes de 9 universidades europeas. Tras una primera fase virtual, se seleccionó a los 12 mejores estudiantes para participar en una semana presencial en Valencia.
💻 Durante la fase online, Juan y Daniel impartieron sesiones intensivas sobre biología de algas, problemáticas medioambientales y aplicaciones biotecnológicas, contando además con la colaboración de profesorado invitado de la UCV.
🧪 En la fase presencial, los participantes trabajaron en los laboratorios de la UCV aprendiendo técnicas reales de extracción de clorofila y compuestos antioxidantes, además de realizar salidas al mar en Calpe y análisis en los labotarios de IMEDMAR.
✨ Pero AlgaeQuest ha sido mucho más que ciencia:
ha sido un ejemplo de liderazgo joven, gestión internacional y trabajo multicultural. Juan y Daniel coordinaron cada detalle del proyecto: docencia, prácticas de laboratorio, presupuestos, logística, vuelos, alojamientos y dirección de equipos internacionales.
🌱 Una iniciativa que demuestra cómo el talento, la innovación y el compromiso de nuestros estudiantes pueden generar proyectos con impacto europeo e internacional.

The Erasmus+ “𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲” in Riga brought together higher education professionals, policy experts, and Erasmus+ coordinators to discuss the future of international cooperation and the evolving role of European Universities alliances. 🇪🇺
During the dedicated European Universities session, EU-CONEXUS institutional coordinator at @klaipedauniversity , Professor dr. Rima Mickevičienė, presented the EU-CONEXUS alliance and shared its experience in education, research, innovation, and stakeholder engagement. 🤝
The discussions revealed strong interest in how alliances operate in practice, how cooperation is coordinated across institutions and countries, and what long-term impact these initiatives create for universities and regional ecosystems.
Key themes throughout the event included stronger governance structures, long-term institutional commitment, integration of alliance priorities into research strategies, and deeper cooperation with regional stakeholders.

These questions were at the centre of the high-level discussion “Sustainability of European University Alliances: From Ambition to Long-Term Impact”, hosted by EU-CONEXUS partner @klaipedauniversity during the international conference “Social Innovations for Sustainable Regional Development”.
Alliance leaders from EU-CONEXUS, FORTHEM, SEA-EU, CHARM-EU and ENHANCE came together to discuss sustainability, governance, institutional integration, and the future of European university collaboration. 🇪🇺🌍
The discussions once again highlighted that the strength of alliances lies not only in joint projects, but also in continuous dialogue, trust-based cooperation, and a shared vision for long-term impact.

On 7th of May, we celebrated the final Dissemination Conference of the IamSTUDENT project, bringing together more than a hundred students, educators, and policymakers from across Europe to reflect on a journey that has transformed ideas into real experiences within EU-CONEXUS. 🌍🎓✨
From the Inter-Campus Life Roadmap to practical tools and pilot initiatives, this project has helped turn cross-border education into something tangible and everyday.
But the real impact always comes from the students. Who better than them to share their own experiences? 💬
From the JMPMB to sports, art, micro-credentials schools, and festivals—their stories showed what European identity truly means when it is lived, not just designed. 🧬🎨⚽
As this project chapter closes, one message stands out: belonging to EU-CONEXUS starts from day one when students join their universities. 💙
