My sister Camille got married yesterday, and it was absolutely beautiful. In the heart of Monroe, NC, under a stunning Carolina blue sky, with birds chirping and even the soft sounds of goats nearby—I witnessed two becoming one. It was truly special.
Every single detail was hand-crafted by Camille. From the really cool text paper napkins to the champagne served upon seating, to the beautiful display of photos honoring family members celebrating from heaven—it was all so thoughtful and deeply felt.
And the reception? Whew. The food was so good! They had me at the garlic aioli and fries. But the band?! I danced the entire night. So, so good!
I haven’t seen Camille in forever, but there was absolutely no way I was missing her wedding. Since our days at UNCW, we’ve always shown up for each other—through the big moments and everything in between. I’m so grateful I got to witness such a beautiful day, so clearly ordained by God.
Drew is solid. Truly good man and I’m so excited for what awaits them both in this next chapter. #FARNIEBusiness
My sweet nephew Axel Mack is 4 today!! I cannot believe it! Where did the time go?!!! He’s my whole heart—and he has me wrapped about his liddle fingers. It’s been such a joy to watch him grow and discover new interests—he loves paleontology and the periodic table. It’s so wild! And then he loves acting and performing! His mind is brilliant and I’m so grateful to God for allowing me to play a small role in ushering him into a big life that awaits him —filled with opportunities, wonder and space for him wander safely however he chooses. My sister is an incredible mama! She’s fantastic and I’m just so proud of her. Happy Birthday Axel Mack! I got you for life 💙🔒
This is what I want writers and editors to see when I’m pitching and advocating—a mother standing with her sons. Mama T, standing proud with Julien and Justen on this Sundance carpet, is exactly what I push for and fight for.
When I’m pitching press, I’m pitching someone’s child. Their hopes. Their dreams. Their sacrifices.
I have a lot to say about performative media at Sundance and about getting real clear on what the hell “indie” actually means. And trust me, I’ll keep fighting. I’ll keep raising my voice. I’ll keep pushing for equity, access, and respect for emerging filmmakers who are building without machines, safety nets, or shortcuts.

Mama had a serious knee replacement surgery last month, and I don’t know what I was thinking, but I was under the impression that she’d be up moving after 3 days. Boy was I wrong! I couldn’t leave my mama like that, I just couldn’t. I scrapped my return to LA and hunkered down in N.C. to help mama and Pops with the transition, and yes I helped myself to a little Waffle House, BoJangles and maybe a Mountain Dew 🙈. I also snuck off to the State Fair— I’ve been obsessed with the Dorton Arena architecture since I was 8. Also went to see Brandy & Monica! The time in N.C. was good for my soul. What a privilege it is to take care of our family and show our love. Love you, mama! So proud of you for pushing through 🤎✨
38! Not even going to hold you, this birthday kinda hit me like a ton of bricks. 2 years away from 40, a checklist that ain’t even half way finished, and a lot of tough changes & challenges this year. But, OHhhh to be kept by God. Safe & Sound, provision and a peace that surpasses all understanding. My sister Yani, flew into New York for the DAY to take me to dinner. We thought we were going to have a Sex In the City-ish, heels, full glam night out—didn’t quite work out like that after a full press day! It was a crew neck & sneakers kinda night and I was happy about that! Mama said I’d understand it better by & by with time, and dern it she wasn’t lying. Thank y’all for the birthday love and wishes ✨
I’m not much -okay, I’m not a runner at all, so when my sister said she was running a half marathon in 2 weeks, I looked at her like she was crazy. Now she runs every week- twice a week with the amazing community of Compton Run Club, but 13+ miles ?!! Girl what?! And she did it. Ran all those miles, and the next day we moved a washer & dryer. That’s a story for another time! I’m so damn proud of her taking on the challenge and finishing strong! And a big thank you to the folks at Compton Run Club for sharing their snacks with me —took me back to my days watching my sister run with the Carolina Eagles wayyyy back. So so proud of you @queentuckk . I’ll always be rooting for you ! Keep going 🏁
Ohhhhh May! Touched the soil in good ole NC and watched my sweet Corey walk across the stage at WSSU. So so proud. I should have gotten Bojangles one more time tho and ain’t nothing like Carolina sky✨
Axel wasn’t game for any photos on Easter Sunday. This was very forced. Mama came to LA for Axel’s 3rd Birthday Party. It was a doozy. We love moments with mama. Press tours with RP, All up & through DC & New York City. Bantu Knots were fun, imma run it back. Saw my fave Tony in DC 🤎 Randall + Jae= the coolest. I love US 🖤 J, Ron, Jess & Ean at Shondaland..Love US 🖤. Michael killed his performance in the Queen’s Jewels. And I can’t wait for folks to see. I’m Right where I’m supposed to be. Thanking God for HIS reminders.

PRESS ON—my theme for November. I experienced a myriad of emotions not just with the election but an ever changing media landscape—whew, the fight continues (publicist ish). I poured myself into home projects, family and showering my sis Yemi as we prepare for Baby Carter. Axel put me on game at the aquarium and he knows all about the good snacks. Yani surprised us with tickets to go see Usher and it was just what I needed! Grateful for my people 🤎
