DAY N NIGHT.
Sect is an ancient doctrine in traditional astrology that outlines the primary power structure of a chart. Whether you were born during the day or at night will alter the strengths and qualities of each of the traditional planets. Certain planets naturally belong together based on sect.
Day planets: Sun, Jupiter, Saturn
Night planets: Moon, Venus, Mars
Mercury is a switchy little bit%h and we love them for it.
If you are born during the day, you have a diurnal, or day chart. If you were born at night, you have a nocturnal, or night chart. If you were born at dawn or dusk, well, let’s just say you’re special. As a starting point, I # recommend thinking about which consciousness (day or night) is coming INTO power for all you rising and setting folks. But know your chart will already have more evenly matched sect teams.
I wrote an article outlining the basics of sect doctrine that you can read for free 99 on my website right now. I also have a sect-specific consult that you can book for those of you who want to talk about your chart and all the power dynamics in your life 😉
Tell me in the comments, which team do you play for? How does this change your world approach?
🙋♀️ I’ll go first! Night team all the way! At night there are TONS of varied light sources (stars, the moon, street lamps etc.) everything is always competing for my attention and I rarely have less than 7 projects in the works at once.
What about you? How do you like your team?
A CONTEMPORARY TREATISE ON ASTROLOGICAL MAGIC.
I wrote you an essay about astrology, science, and magic, with a fairly decisive section on fate and free will.
This is maybe the most risky, honest and important essay of my astrological career so far.
I also gave an extended introduction to Astrological Magic. What is it? Where does it come from. Who makes it. Who can apply it. How it works. How to work with it.
You can read it right now on my website. You know where to go 🌐
Shoutout to my parents and makers who humoured me and bought me my first vial of astrological magic materia for xmas 6 years ago, having no idea what it was. I wouldn’t be here without you, literally 😉
For all of you who are already dabblers, purveyors and enthusiasts, tell me, who is your new favorite astrological magic friend (and by who)? Personally, I’m still on the @sphere_and_sundry Cap II high speed train! And to balance it out, I’ve been reconnecting with an elder companion from @idolastellarum whom I just adore.

*i will do about 12 of these. after that the comments get to be a lot for my nervous system to track. but if you want to learn with me live how to do this yourself - and so much more related to the 2nd house - I’ll be announcing something to my newsletter next week that will do exactly that.
EVERY 2ND HOUSE IS DIFFERENT
In some charts, the 2nd house ruler and any 2nd house guests have a tenuous relationship, which contributes to tension around money.
In other charts, the 2nd house ruler and any 2nd house guests get along great, which contributes to ease in both making and spending money. Though generally positive, this can sometimes mean being more relaxed or reckless with spending.
In still other charts, no matter how much affinity the 2nd house ruler and any 2nd house guests may have, they just can’t seem to connect or find each other. This can create financial discrepancies that often need the support of another planet to help resolve.
In every chart, there are points of contention and pathways of ease around money. you just have to find them.
If you want to understand the tension and add to the ease around money, I’m getting ready to share something that can help. And you can find it via my muselettre 💌
“WHAT IF MY 2ND HOUSE IS EMPTY?”
An empty 2nd house does *not* mean no money. It *does* mean that the planet that takes care of your resources is not *with* your resources.
If you have no planets in your 2nd house, then the subjects of other houses are not directly interwoven with your resources, EXCEPT for the house where your 2nd house ruler is located.
If your 2nd house ruler is not in the 2nd house, identifying and clearing a channel for the 2nd house ruler to connect to the 2nd house, can help with the generation and care of money.
Look to the house where the 2nd house ruler is located. That house will give you information about how your 2nd house ruler is making money, and also what they might be spending it on.
For example, if Venus rules your 2nd house but is located in the 7th house, you might make money in a 1:1 capacity as a therapist or someone who draws up contracts. But you might also be spending a lot of your money on intimate 1:1 relationships.
If the planet that rules your 2nd house is in the 9th house, you might make money as a teacher, coach or even astrologer. But you might also be spending a lot of your money on education, travel and personal/professional development.
If you don’t know what all the houses mean, every person who signs up for my newsletter gets a houses pdf. This is a cheat sheet to help you learn the areas of life found in each of the 12 astrological houses.
RECAP:
If you’re 2nd house is empty, you primarily need to look at the house where your 2nd house ruler is placed to understand how you make and spend money.

Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Pisces risings might have a couple of extra challenging financial years right now but I would recommend different things to each one to mitigate this. Let me explain.
Saturn is currently moving through the sign of Aries, where it is fallen. Saturn rules the and house for Sagittarius and Capricorn risings.
When the 2nd house ruler
is afflicted like Saturn is in Aries, financial things become more difficult for the ruler to take care of.
Since Saturn takes care of the 2nd house for Sagittarius and Capricorn risings, I would suggest finding ways to support Saturn.
Supporting Saturn looks like making offerings (I like black sesame and black salt), moving slowly when you can, practicing being responsible, respecting the limit before you burn out and accepting that some things are real hard and just take time.
Pisces risings have an Aries 2nd house and Saturn is currently moving through it. Saturn moving through the 2nd by transit can put strains on our resources, force us to confront financial realities, make us wait to get paid and create blocks to making money. This is a long transit but it is temporary.
When Saturn moves
through the 2nd house by transit, it is helpful to cool Saturn down. In Aries, Saturn tends to struggle, so the challenges created by Saturn can feel less productive. In this case, I recommend doing things that make Saturn comfortable enough to not cause further problems.
This can look like longer meditations, fasting, and generally resisting purchasing things. You can try letting go of or reducing a Saturn thing from your life like black coffee. This is less about learning to work hard the Saturn way and more about removing, reducing, budgeting your energy.
If Saturn rules or is moving through your 2nd house, what are you currently doing to help mitigate Saturn?
IF IT FEELS LIKE YOU’RE ALWAYS SPENDING MORE THAN YOU WANT TO SAVE, try giving planets *in* your 2nd house extra attention and clear instructions so they can help you with your money and bring things you actually need.
planets IN the 2nd house bring gifts, resources, money and other items FROM the houses they rule TO the 2nd house. but not every “gift” is something you want.
planets IN the 2nd house are also bringing problems, tasks, situations, principles, and desires FROM the houses they rule TO the 2nd house. and you (and your 2nd house ruler) have to deal with them.
the things brought TO the 2nd house by
planets stationed there are dependant on the nature of that planet and the other houses it rules in your chart.
for example, if you have Jupiter in the 2nd house it can bring all kinds of abundance. and if Jupiter rules the Oth and 12th house from the 2nd house, Jupiter may bring you a trip to a foreign place. But you might not have the time or money to travel right now.
You might prefer if Jupiter brought some wisdom, a class, or a coach that could actually help you make an extra buck. If you talk to Jupiter about this with graciousness, he will more inclined to help and get you what you need.
planets IN the second house are resources for you. kind of like an employee or assistant who brings a set of talents or expertise to do a particular job. some people are a better match for the job than others.
either way, you still have to train and give that person direction. and you probably need to give them something, pay them, provide benefits, etc. in exchange.
if you want planets in your 2nd house to help you make money and respect the resources you have, you need to support them to support you.
many of you are asking “what if my 2nd house is empty?” I promise I’ll talk about this soon.
if you have planets IN the second house, drop them in the comments along with your rising sign and I’ll make a recommendation for an offering and an ask of that planet to help improve your financial situation.*
*I will make up to 7 suggestions here! If you want more comprehensive info beyond that, my newsletter is where to find it.
FULL MOON IN SCORPIO AFFIRMATIONS
1. my fear is uncertain but my instincts are sacred. when i am afraid, i will return to my deep-rooted wisdom.
2. fear functions better when i prioritize its corresponding hope.
3. when challenges arise, taking care of my body can only help the situation.
4. pain and pleasure can coexist. i will not pit them against one another.
5. i trust my courage. i have faith in care. i will follow trust and faith with actions that back them up.
6. fear is an instinct designed to help me survive. i refuse to drown myself in a thing that is trying to help me out.
these affirmations are a tiny piece of my astrology offerings. if they resonate, you’ll probably like my newsletter. the list link is in my bio.
DONT SLEEP ON YOUR 2ND HOUSE RULER
If you’re struggling with money, try building a relationship with the planet that rules your 2nd house.
find out what your 2nd house ruler likes, then make offerings in the form of those types of things in order to build your resources.
offerings to planets can be physical items that you put on an altar, but they can also be actions.
for example, Venus likes flowers - put them on the altar. but Venus also likes connecting, dancing and beauty...
so you can practice socializing, moving your body to music or putting a little extra effort into makeup or an outfit. these all qualify as offerings to Venus.
then practice noticing how those actions prime you for attracting more resources. this is Venus responding to your efforts and offerings.
now i know some of you are thinking, “but what if my 2nd house ruler is a malefic? does that mean i will always struggle with money?” not necessarily.
every planet can have advantages and disadvantages. can act in ways that are constructive or destructive. Jupiter, while benefic, can overdo it, gamble too hard, and over-indulge which can lead to money problems. Saturn, while malefic, can help you with consistency, hard work and boundaries - which are often ingredients to making money.
if you don’t like your 2nd house planet and its preferences, you may continue to have challenges with money. but if you make friends with its inclinations and accentuate its constructive principles, you will build the channel for resources to make their way to you.
drop your 2nd house sign or its ruling planet in the comments and I’ll give a recommendation for an action-based offering to the 2nd house ruler.
Can I have your attention for a minute? 😉
URANUS IN GEMINI: YOUR ATTENTION SPAN IS MULTI-DIMENSIONAL
We usually think of attention span as the amount of time we can focus our attention on something. This is a flattened understanding of attention.
Attention is both quantitative and qualitative.
Attention is quantitative in both time and depth of focus. Someone scrolling for hours is giving a ton of time-based attention but is it deep attention?
Your attention span has *direction*.
It has orientations, well-worn routes, certain inclinations and specific preferences. It leans towards some things and evades others. It can be instructed or instructive. Prescribed or prescriptive.
You can change the direction of your attention if you become conscious of the way it shifts, guides and angles toward certain things.
Your attention span has *strength* and *mobility*.
With Uranus in Gemini, now is a good time to start training your attention muscles. Practice watching your focus. Dictating how long, how thorough, how frenetic, how relaxed. Notice what you’re digesting - whether nutritive or empty attention calories. Practice mobilizing your attention span to shift, deepen and retract focus, to pivot and pivot back again.
Your attention span is like a bank account. Your attention is its currency. You can grow its capacity and its contents but your attention should be spent somewhere, ideally on things that make your life feel fuller and more vibrant - things that are valuable enough to warrant your attention spent.
YOUR ATTENTION IS ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE AND INVISIBLE CURRENCIES YOU HAVE.
Pay attention forwards, backwards and sideways. Try not to let it run on empty. Make sure at least some of the attention you output is regenerative, and gives you enough to keep going.
