𝙊𝙑𝘼-𝘾𝙄𝙍 2024 Phosphor Coated Glass/ Argon/ Mercury/ Aluminum/ Hardware OVA-CIR started with the space first. Which space in the building will allow light to explore architectural space with multiple sight lines, both directly visible and non-visible. Leading to the bulkhead, a space otherwise unused and unnoticed. It’s one of the first spaces you see climbing the stairs. As you walk up, almost being drawn to the light - like a bug - the forms get brighter and the ‘exploring light’ fills the space. Adding color and shape to a untraditional space otherwise unnoticed without the light. Allowing the light to explore architectural spaces, giving the light “curiosity to explore” while the viewer is doing the same. The overall design is intriguing with multiple perspectives seen from various angles; directly below, either side of the stairs, down the hallway. With the ‘exploring light’ creating a floating effect around the second set of stairs. The actual forms could be interpreted as a glass bubble being stretched into an ellipsoidal shape, an optical illusion, a portal, or a circle transforming into an ellipse, hence the name OVA-CIR. - Designed and installed by @ethan_samaha - Neon Fabrication by @nebulaneon - Installed at @pghglasscenter SCAFFOLDING IS STILL UP IN THE PICTURES 60 1/2 x 33 1/2 x 6

BROADWAY BABY As many of you all don’t know. On top of my BFA I also have a minor in performance design and technology, basically technical theatre. Working with amazing directors and designers over my years at Alfred. I was asked by the amazing Eliza Beckwith, @oscarsperambulator if I would like to light the World Premiere of ‘9/10’. I said yes and spent an entire week in NYC with a crazy load in and tech of this world premiere. Hard work paid off and now I’m happy to say I’m nominated for best lighting design of a (off-off) broadway show. This is peer voted and I’m close to winning. So in your free time today, go vote for me and the rest of the cast and crew of ‘9/10’

EP 52 is OUT! Hello Lightning Tamers this is episode number 52. And in today's podcast, recorded Dec 2nd, 2021, I'll be joined by Light and Space Artist, Ethan Samaha. Ethan is visiting here in Pittsburgh for the week, and had reached out me to meet up and talk about neon and plasma. I was working in studio , and suggested we'd meet at the Pittsburgh Glass Center. After giving a tour of PGC, and about 2 hours of nerding out about plasma illumination, we decided to record a podcast. Love the way a faux reticello tube looks like an onion/citrus bag. Made during my residency @pghglasscenter with the help of @zlayhew and @glass.percy #onionbag #reticello #custom

Pittsburgh Glass Residency dump. A can’t thank @glass.percy and @zlayhew for helping me during my residency @pghglasscenter pulling custom color, optic mold, and reticello tubes. All to filled with gas in the near future. 1. Hand pulled grey tubing filled with a mix of xenon, krypton and neon. More to come!
