Nocturne Artists Spotlight: New Media, XR, and Interactive Digital Systems 🖥️ Nick Bontrager + Joshua Penrose, Melanie Clemmons + Zak Loyd, Eric Trich Continuing our artist spotlights for Nocturne, May 8 & 9 (8:30 - 11:30pm) at Frisco Commons Park, we’re highlighting artists whose practices explore the intersection of technology, interaction, and digital space. 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 + 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗲 @nickbontrager @joshuapenrose Nick Bontrager and Joshua Penrose create interactive works that combine scanning technologies, custom software, and sculptural objects. Their projects investigate how hidden systems such as data streams, code, and digital processes shape our cognitive and material experience of the world. 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀 + 𝗭𝗮𝗸 𝗟𝗼𝘆𝗱 @auraquartz @zakloyd Collaborating since 2009, Melanie Clemmons and Zak Loyd create immersive video, laser, and XR installations as well as internet-based artworks. Their work explores internet culture, speculative futures, machine learning, and the shifting boundaries between digital life and physical space. 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 @et_3d Eric Trich is a Dallas-based new media artist whose work spans interactive installations, XR experiences, animation, and 3D printing. Blending digital and physical processes, he creates evolving environments that explore the relationship between technology, creativity, and audience interaction. ✨ We will continue to spotlight Nocturne’s incredible artists over the coming weeks who will be transforming Frisco Commons Park May 8 & 9!

NEW MEDIA CONTEMPORARY PRESENTS: 26:1 - Featuring artists Zak Loyd and Eric Trich - Opening December 12, 7-11pm | On view through January 18 Eric Trich is a new media artist from Dallas, Texas. His work spans interactive installations, XR experiences, painting, animation, and 3D printing. He explores the space between the digital and physical, blending diverse elements to create evolving art. Eric has had the privilege of designing visuals for celebrated musicians including Lil Wayne, Janelle Monae, Quest Love, and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He has opened experimental art spaces 1111 Gallery, 3014 SPACE, and PXLAB. Zak Loyd (he/him) is a media artist and educator interested in the mystical implications of videoart histories, machine learning technologies, internet culture, and post-truth politics. His intermodal work includes video, installation, performance, crypto-art, and prose. He has shown at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver; Rhizome; The Dallas Museum of Art; RemoteControl Gallery, Prague; and Mock Jungle; Bologna, among others. He received his MFA inInterdisciplinary Media Art Practices from the University of Colorado. He is currently a VisualArt Technician and Adjunct Faculty in New Media Art at the University of North Texas. Facades of Dallas(Hall):: What is a facade? A surface that speaks, && one stable enough to build belief around. Dallas Hall, the first and foremost @ SMU, with its grand neoclassical columns and iconic copper dome, exudes myth; wisdom, stability, power, and endurance. It wears the mask of legacy, but in Dallas, where ambition relents like a ‘74 Ford Ranger, and where culture comes in the highest-gloss Benjamin Moore, && history just another commodity for sale to the highest real estate developer. Situated just a stone’s throw from Highland Park, one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the country, Dallas Hall, like the campus its situated upon, is a monument to class exclusivity wrapped in public decorum.
