Culture and War
A culture of war…a war on culture .
Culture is the past, present, future, forever. Culture is the living thing carrying us through generations over and over again. It lives in us and it is us, constantly changing shape and form as time passes.Constantly under attack whether directly or indirectly.
Yet , never losing that ancestral identity.
It’s the way we talk, the way we behave , the way we do things , the way we exist.
Culture doesn’t ask for permission .
Culture doesn’t surrender.
Culture doesn’t work well with invaders.
They trying long time. They try to erase and wash and destroy and regulate and replace and ban and ban and ban over and over. It go find a way and it will live on longer than the people who want to destroy it.
And if yuh think yuh win and destroy all and everything related to it, it will always find its way back .
“Them fete is noise pollution “
“That parade and fireworks is a waste of money “
“I hate soca and calypso ”
“ Carnival is nonsense”
“Talk proper English “
“Alyuh only like holiday, lime and long weekend”
“Well in foreign they does cook it like this instead”
“Wa dey wasting money on dem heritage houses for”
And if nothing ain’t bother you yet just remember war affects everybody
Fight for you.Fight for what makes us , us .
Which side are you fighting for?
