🖤✨ A powerful day of history, culture, and imagination at @saaacamtx We were honored to welcome students from @essenceprep to the SAAACAM exhibit space and future home of the SAAACAM Cultural Center, which will become the third largest African American museum in the nation. Through our Future Preservationist Program, students experienced the power of seeing their stories, history, and culture reflected inside a museum built to preserve their legacy for generations to come. Special thanks to Mr. Brown and the amazing Essence Prep staff, along with @chef_nicola_blaque and @freightchicken at the @historicpearl for hosting our students for an incredible lunch experience. 🍗✨ We are also grateful to the @nbafoundation for investing in the next generation of historians, archivists, and culture keepers. Happy Birthday to a true visionary, our CEO, Superintendent, and Principal! 🎉 This moment captured says it all, leadership, presence, and purpose. You don’t just lead from the front, you stand in the room, build relationships, and make things happen. Because of you, Essence Prep is not just a school, it’s a movement. You’ve created a space where scholars feel seen, heard, and empowered to rise beyond expectations. That kind of impact can’t be MEASURED it’s FELT every single day in the culture you’ve built. No matter what anyone says… we made history with Essence Prep and that legacy is a direct reflection of your courage, your vision, and your heart. Wishing you a birthday filled with the same greatness you pour into others every day. We celebrate you today and always! 💫

Today, during Women’s History Month, we honor the life and legacy of Mia Morris, a devoted counselor, servant leader, and cherished member of our community. Mia gave her time and heart to causes that uplifted others, volunteering with SAAACAM, the San Antonio MLK Commission, and faithfully serving her church family at True Vision Church. Her commitment to service reflected her deep belief in community, culture, and faith. At school, Mia’s impact was felt every single day. She cared for our scholars with patience, gentleness, and fierce dedication making sure they felt seen, supported, and valued. She showed up for them not just as a counselor, but as a steady presence, a safe space, and a source of encouragement. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. We are grateful. We are heartbroken. We will always remember her🕊️

Reflecting on our Black History Program, our hearts are full of gratitude. To our parents, thank you for trusting us with your children. Thank you for reinforcing at home what we teach within our walls: pride, perseverance, excellence, agency and identity. Your partnership makes the difference. To our community partners your time, resources, and belief in our mission help us create experiences our scholars will never forget. Because of you, our students don’t just learn about history they see it, feel it, and live it. To our board members, thank you for your steady leadership and unwavering commitment to the vision of Essence Prep. Your guidance ensures that our work remains strong, purposeful, and impactful. Black history is not just a month for us, it is a foundation. It is culture. It is resilience. It is brilliance. It is legacy. When our scholars stand on that stage, they are not simply performing, they are honoring those who paved the way and declaring who they are becoming. Essence Prep has touched so many scholars, and we do not take that lightly. We see their growth. We hear their voices. We watch their confidence rise. That is the true reward of this work. And we will continue. We will continue to pour into them. We will continue to remind them of their greatness. We will remain rooted in excellence, pride, and love. Thank you for standing with us. This work matters and together, we are making history every single day. No matter what they say!
