three years making a house a home ✨ a whole lot of patience, sweat, cash and generous family and friends have gotten us to this point.
and I guess that’s what home ownership is all about.
when we first moved in, I had grand ambitions of doing a full house overhaul in the first year, starting with gutting the blue bathroom. as it turns out, not only are renos exceptionally expensive and overwhelmingly time consuming, but if you live in a place for a while you start to see what actually needs upgrading and what you can actually live with quite happily for, well, years. and so the furnace got replaced and the house got painted and the kitchen got half-demoed and the yard got a facelift and every room got painted and the blue bathroom remains untouched because it is, actually, highly functional and charmingly retro.
we still have such a long way to go. rooms to furnish, a basement to finish, garden beds to weed, doors and windows to upgrade, a kitchen to bring over the finish line.
but sitting here, looking back at where we started and how far we’ve come, and thinking about how comfortable and safe and content we feel in this home - I couldn’t be prouder to call it ours.
