Our timelines have been flooded with pixies and we’d like to pause for a #BlackHistoryMoment to talk about the beginning of what has now become a nationwide trend.
Most people know Garrett A. Morgan for the traffic light. But did you know that he also created one of the earliest chemical hair refiners?
In the early 1900s, Morgan developed what he called Hair Refining Cream, an early straightening formula. It wasn’t perfect by today’s standards, but it marked something powerful. It showed that textured hair required science; and that Black innovation would shape the industry.
That innovation eventually made precision styles like the pixie possible.
