Audrey Harrer is a composer-vocalist-harpist who creates art music. Her songs are an eccentric blend of nostalgic vocals, cinematic imagery, and playful dissonance. She is influenced by artists like Moondog, Patti Smith, Kate Bush, and Meredith Monk, and she draws inspiration from vintage animation scores, modern concert music, and rock.
I'll be performing improvisations for cello and "machine listening" accompaniment system I developed. The system uses audio analysis and machine learning to model different aspects of the acoustic sound and make decisions about how to playback electronic voices in real time. The notes, dynamics, textures and rhythms of the acoustic instrument function as controller for a reactive ensemble of synthetic sounds.
