HE IS THE KEEPER OF MEMORY.
THE GUARDIAN OF SOUND.
Stepping into the sacred role of MLINZI WA ZAMANI — The Keeper of Music, Time and Ancestral Sound — is the legendary Dizu Plaatjies.
Dizu Plaatjies is a globally celebrated South African musician, composer and cultural historian, best known as a founding member of the iconic group Amampondo. For decades, his work has carried the heartbeat of indigenous African music across the world, preserving ancestral instruments, rhythms and knowledge that might otherwise have been lost to time.
A master of traditional instruments such as the uhadi, umrhubhe, mbira and indigenous percussion, Dizu is more than a performer — he is a living archive. His music bridges generations, ritual and contemporary performance, grounding modern stages in ancient truth.
In The Kingdom of Ubuntu Musical – In Concert, he embodies Mlinzi wa Muziki — the one who guards the soul of the Kingdom through sound. When he plays, ancestors arrive. When he speaks, history breathes.
This is not accompaniment. This is ceremony.

SHE IS THE VOICE BETWEEN WORLDS.
SHE IS THE ONE WHO SEES.
Stepping into the sacred role of SAFI — Guardian Oracle of the Kingdom is internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Bongiwe Nakani.
Bongiwe Nakani is a world-class operatic voice whose artistry moves between ritual, prophecy and power. From Vienna State Opera ensemble, she has commanded global stages with depth, precision and ancestral resonance. Her voice does not merely sing — it reveals.
In The Kingdom of Ubuntu Musical – In Concert, Safi is the spiritual compass of the realm. She opens ceremonies, calls the ancestors, guards the laws of Ubuntu and stands at the threshold between destiny and choice. When the kingdom trembles, it is Safi who steadies the ground.
This is not narration. This is invocation.

His work spans acclaimed theatre productions, film and television, with appearances in productions such as Gqeberha: The Empire, Niggings, Z’bondiwe and Kelders van Geheime, among many others.

HE IS THE STORM THAT RETURNS.
HE IS NKANYAMBA.
Introducing Vuyolwethu Biyela — multi-talented actor, singer and performer — stepping into the storm-forged role of Nkanyamba in The Kingdom of Ubuntu Musical – In Concert.
Trained in drama and seasoned across film, theatre and television, Vuyolwethu brings deep emotional complexity and presence to every character he embodies. From award-winning performances to commanding screen roles, he is a storyteller at heart.
In this production, he portrays Nkanyamba — a banished heir returned with turmoil in his steps and fire in his voice. He isn’t merely conflict incarnate — he is the story of unresolved roots, personal reckoning, and the weight of legacy that demands confrontation
This is not just a return. This is a reckoning.

It started as a whisper in my spirit.
A dream so sacred I held it with trembling hands.
Now it’s no longer a dream.
It’s becoming flesh.
And honestly… that realization scares me 😱 — not in fear, but in awe.
The kind of fear that comes when you know God and Ancestors are involved, when you know this is bigger than you.
Thank you to every soul who said YES.
Your yes gave this dream legs.
Your yes turned faith into action.
Your yes said: let us build something worthy of our ancestors and our children.
We are stepping onto the Artscape Opera House.
1,500 seats.
Two nights only.
This is not just a show.
This is a homecoming on a prestigious stage.
A moment where our people come to see themselves honoured, their cultures elevated, their stories sung, danced, and spoken with dignity.
I wish — no, I pray — for a SOLD OUT.
Not for ego.
Not for applause.
But so our people can witness what it looks like when Kings and Queens tell their own stories without apology.
We belong on this stage.
We have always belonged.
Now come and occupy the seats like royalty.
The Kingdom is calling.
And the doors are open.
