Coming up this Thursday, 5/14/26, @ 3:30 PM EDT, I will be joined by James Young and Greg Chandler from the blackened/ doomy/avant-garde/deathy/ funeral doomy/classical influenced band Lychgate @lychgateofficial …. Perhaps you got my point I would hope, as this band is truly pretty unclassifiable !! I must admit I’ve known about the band for quite a while as Greg’s main gig, Esoteric @esoteric_uk has been a fave band for 20+ years, but oddly I just never got around to digging into the Lychgate catalog until this past December when my good buddy Dreadful Rick @thedreadfulminutes finally managed to get me to give their brand new (at the time) album Precipice a shot. I was instantly blown away and bought all of the back catalog, and Lychgate has become a massive favorite band the last few months for me (thanks for spending all my money Rick !!). In this interview we’ll dive deep into the origin story, influences, the back catalog, and certainly the new(ish) album Precipice ! If you dig bands like Dodheimsgard, Blut Aus Nord, Ruins of Beverast, and Sigh, then Lychgate might just be for you !!

Krótko po rozwiązaniu Nagelfar Alexander von Meilenwald powołał do życia The Ruins Of Beverast - projekt, z którym na przestrzeni ponad dwudziestu lat wypracował sobie pozycję w absolutnej czołówce atmosferycznego black metalu. Na początku roku, standardowo nakładem Van Records, ukazał się jego nowy album “Tempelschlaf”, którego hipnotyzujących walorów będziecie mogli doświadczyć na żywo w listopadzie.
Esoteric wywodzą się z miasta, w którym narodził się heavy metal, czyli Birmingham, więc o bylejakości nie może być tu mowy. Funeraldoomowa legenda, której twórczością inspiruje się większość zespołów w gatunku. W jej dyskografii nie ma słabych punktów, a na ten moment zamyka ją wydany w 2019 roku krążek “A Pyrrhic Existence”.
Imha Tarikat to obecnie jeden z najważniejszych zespołów współczesnej sceny blackmetalowej w Niemczech, co potwierdzili wydaną w zeszłym roku, świetnie przyjętą płytą “Confessing Darkness”. W artystycznej wizji Kerema Yilmaza wspierają m.in. Ricardo Baum, wokalista The Night Eternal, oraz Jerome Reil - syn perkusisty Kreator, Jürgena Reila.
Esoteric are joining forces with atmospheric Black Doom titans @theruinsofbeverast and the intense blackened metal of @imhatarikat for a tour across Europe during November and December. We are massively looking forward to this! Thanks to @mythologyagency and @doomstarbookings for putting this together.

The Ruins of Beverast est le projet solo du musicien allemand Alexander von Meilenwald, également connu pour ses collaborations avec plusieurs groupes de la scène underground. Fondé en 2003 avec la démo The Furious Waves of Damnation, suivie de l’album Unlock the Shrine, le projet s’impose rapidement avec une identité forte. Sa musique développe un black metal progressif atypique, mêlant compositions ambitieuses et une approche volontairement brute dans la production.
Cette année, The Ruins of Beverast signe un retour marquant avec Tempelschlaf, nouvel opus sorti en janvier, qui confirme la singularité et la puissance de son univers. Le projet continue de repousser les limites du black-doom en mêlant fureur, lenteur écrasante et atmosphères rituelles. Avec Tempelschlaf, The Ruins of Beverast confirme son statut incontournable dans les sphères du metal extrême.
En tournée également, le groupe britannique de funeral doom metal Esoteric et les allemands, Imha Tarikat, qui incarne un black metal viscéral et sans filtre.
