🥳VICTORY for PCC decarbonization! *** On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Associated Students of PCC UNANIMOUSLY passed the Decarbonization Advisory Panel Recommendation Letter for the Board of Trustees. If implemented, the panel would comprise students, faculty, and interested community members like you and me passionate about keeping PCC on-track to carbon-free energy by 2030, as outlined in PCC Resolution 799 ("zero-carbon pledge"). The panel could allow for... ✅direct community involvement ✅bridged communication between constituents (like us) and admin ✅educational opportunities for civic engagement And most of all... uniting the community under one common goal: a cleaner, brighter future for generations of PCC students to come. 💓 *** 🥹HUGE thank you to Carlos, Kristen, Kelani, and Carlos for supporting us at the meeting! And thank you to Kelani, Linus, Carlos, Kristen, Huy, and Matt for working with AS throughout the year for this very moment. Many thanks to Layne, Ariel, Maria, and the rest of AS for their incredible patience and support, along with our advisors and mentors. But the work doesn't stop there! JOIN US at the Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, May 13 at 6pm in the Creveling Lounge to support our students and their proposal. :D 📅Wednesday, May 13 🕒6-8pm 📌Creveling Lounge 1570 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91106

📝 FROM PUBLIC COMMENT TO THE PRESS! 📝 Haven't you heard? To read the full article, visit the link in our bio. *** Two weeks ago, we didn't just make a statement -- we showed up, and SHOWED OUT. We had one target: request city council to agendize a resolution for the CA Polluters Pay Climate Superfund (SB 684/AB 1243). Over 60 resolutions are underway statewide, and the bill is already backed by the LA Board of Supervisors. ✅ If passed in January, this bill would finance climate resilience and recovery projects for communities at the frontline of climate change (ex: Altadena), all paid for by one of the most offending culprits of climate disasters: Big Oil. *** Dozens of emails, DMs, and Zooms later, 13 of us arrived on a chilly but brisk Monday evening, joined by folks from an additional activist group, Pasadena4Palestine. The room was PACKED with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, united under a common front. When it was our time to speak, 5 of us stood before the podium to issue public comment and have our voices heard: and have our voices heard we did! HUGE thank you to PCC students Annika, Carlos, Linda, Lydia, Linus, Alani, Cheyenne, Eva, and Tomas for showing up, in addition to our wonderful advisor, Susan from 350 Southland Legislative Alliance, and Atticus from Sunrise Foothills. Shoutout to Elijah, Kristen, Loys, Jackie, and Linda for helping with the posters; Chloe for the button-pins we wore; and the professionalism of Nate and Kharis for their PCC Courier coverage. 💚 🚨 BUT THE WORK DOESN'T STOP HERE! 🚨 We will be BACK at the council chambers on MONDAY for Polluters Pay once more, as council has delegated the task to a different committee, who will meet far too late for our January 2026 deadline. If you are a Pasadena resident or student who is concerned about Pasadena's future in a post-Eaton world, come out and support! 📍 Pasadena City Hall Council Chambers 2nd floor (100 Garfield Ave. Pasadena, CA 91101) #polluterspay #activism #bigoil

What does it mean to empower oneself...?⬇️ It means autonomy. Self-determination. Emancipation. And on Wednesday in the Creveling Lounge, 13 of us did just that. *** 👏SUPER PROUD of Le, Edgar, Kai, Hunter, Carlos, Linus, Lydia, Raymond, Kelani, Hunter, Adrian, and Eva for taking the time to uplift student voices at Wednesday's Board of Trustees meeting! And thank you to the board and Associated Students for holding space for us throughout the semester, with incredible patience. As we have been reminded, we are all working toward a common goal. While we realized the timeline would have to be delayed, we wanted to reaffirm our commitment to the cause: involving community voices in our shared goal of Decarbonization by 2030. 💚 A community advisory panel, if implemented, would: ✅involve administrative oversight and community involvement beyond existing committees and public comment ✅ allow ordinary folks (like you and me!) the chance to learn about the school's incredible goal of decarbonization and provide meaningful input ✅ expand opportunities for STEM leadership and civic engagement 📢We advocate for students because we truly believe in the power of collective action. Student voices have and will continue to thrive, impact, and flourish. We look forward to future meetings with all parties so that everyone is on the same page. :3 *** Thank you again to everyone who has supported us! Let's work together for a brighter future. ☀️
