“Of what does our voice sing in the chorus of distress” (Undying, This Day All Gods Die EP era, 1999) I had honestly never given much death metal and it’s many subgenres a shot, but Undying was actually the band that encouraged me to branch out and listen to more due to their melodic death metal inspired passages. Really sick band that you can still see influencing lots of groups today. They also have one of, if not the best hardcore logos of all time imo. Haven’t seen many of these in a XXL. Nehemiah really knew what they were doing with this sample. Stampin’ Ground, a staple of the massively underrated UK hardcore scene, was originally active from 1995 through 2006. Check out this song if you haven’t listened to them before for some really sick crossover metallic hardcore, a great introduction to the band. They’ve been back for about a year now playing some shows again in the EU, would be really cool to see them hop on a US fest lineup. Yesterday I tweaked a couple of my audio setups, and this was one of the first songs I played to test them out because of those riffs. Couldn’t be happier. “Yeah, I’ll be fine without these bones” (Saves the Day, Can’t Slow Down era, 1998) An early and incredibly rare shirt from the Princeton pop punk group Saves the Day. I’ve seen this shirt in black once before, but had no idea they were sold in bright baby blue as well. I had previously thought I read somewhere that this was one of their first shirts they made after changing their name from Sefler in 1997/1998, but if the original owner is correct maybe the light blue was a slightly later reprint by a year or two? Perhaps someone with more familiarity can clarify. Edit: Seems that I may have been correct initially and this is the 3rd or 4th shirt they made, just after the release of Can’t Slow Down. “Thinking the same black thoughts” (Deftones/Poison The Well, Derek Hess tour designs, 2003) In 2003, to promote the then upcoming releases of both Deftones’ S/T and Poison The Well’s You Come Before You, the bands released a split EP featuring a couple of singles from their respective albums and toured together. The legendary artist Derek Hess did the art for both of these shirts, with the Deftones tee using the full art from the EP. Two of my favorite bands in one post.
