The 2nd Annual Louisville Classic is gearing up to get down on June 6th. A contest for every kind of skater, with trophies for the top 3 in three different divisions, and a $500 cash prize for the advanced champ. Plus promo and heaps of good times. Not only my longest puppet project to date (140+ hours), but also one of my favorites. All hand carved before I learned how to be faster, and maybe smarter? The mask salesman will be a part of a short film soon here, but for now, a few glamour shots of my favorite Nintendo nostalgia.

As we get our ideas together for 2026, it’s a great time to take a look back at what goes into some of the things we do here at Sprak, and that includes one of our most fun events, The Louisville classic. Whether it was the first time trying some of these tricks, running into each other in the darkness, or mass amount of smoke inhalation from fireworks, the filming of this commercial is a core memory, and such a blast to be a part of. Thankful to have been able to bring this together and thankful for the boys coming through and putting in work.

I was certain this 25lb snapping turtle was dead, or severely injured and I was getting ready to bring him to a wildlife rehab rehabilitation when I noticed that he was actually perfectly healthy. Turns out he was just stranded on the side of the freeway, far from any water. Thankfully, I had a large garbage can with me, and my skateboard to wheel him around so I didn’t get ripped up any further, those nails are sharp and strong! After some struggling, I brought him over 30 minutes away to a local lake with small rivers that lead in and out, far away from cars, and sent him on his way. If I could ask anything from my friends, it would be to help save the wildlife on the side of the roads. Sometimes it’s inconvenient, but it’s always the right thing to do. Or message me and I’ll figure something out 🤘🏻😂. Save the turtles, Kentucky!

You can find me most nights in front of a pile of carving knives, paints, and wood or clay, though I generally don’t post those processes to my page. I always start with the idea that I’m going to film the entirety of a project, then stop and realize that some things are better left un-filmed, like the painting part of any project, thats for me and me alone 😂. I don’t think many people would even enjoy how bad I am at it 😵💫. Here is the process of this Nordic inspired mask made from bass wood. True to size, done with hand tools, and added to the collection. More to come soon 🤘🏻

Happy birthday to a place that has brought me some of the most fun times I’ve had in many years, @sprakskateboarding . Connecting with @paulzitzer back in November 2023 and seeing a large, empty warehouse complete with oil stains and old pipes, I would’ve never thought such an amazing thing would blossom. All of the hard work, the man hours, the planning, and the sweat equity everybody put into this has given me such faith in the skateboarding community. It’s great to see people doing more for skateboarding, than just riding a skateboard. Huge shout out to everyone who made Sprak possible, you know who you are, and to name a few- @matthewmcdole@ljd615@thadd_dillon@mitch_stfg@bartstattoos . Y’all brought this thing to life.
