Seals are among the most iconic marine animals of the Dutch coast. Two species can be found here: the harbor seal (Phoca vitulina) and the grey seal (Halichoerus grypus). The Wadden Sea and the Zeeland estuaries are especially important habitats, offering sandbanks where seals can rest, give birth, and nurse their pups.
Harbor seals are the most common, recognizable by their round heads and gentle eyes. Grey seals are larger, with longer snouts and a more powerful build. Both species play a vital role in the marine ecosystem, feeding on fish and keeping coastal waters in balance.
Thanks to decades of protection and conservation efforts, seal populations in the Netherlands have recovered strongly since the 1970s, when pollution and hunting had drastically reduced their numbers. Today, seeing seals lounging on sandbanks or swimming near the shore has become a beloved sight for locals and visitors alike.

From above, the geometric patterns and bold stripes create a surreal landscape that almost looks painted. Timing is everything: the peak bloom usually happens between late March and early May, depending on the weather.
Shot from the sky, these fields reveal a whole new perspective—order, color, and nature working in perfect harmony.

Tulip fields are one of the most iconic sights in the Netherlands. They bloom mainly in spring, especially from March to May, when vast fields transform into colorful stripes of red, yellow, pink, and purple. Tulips were originally introduced from the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century and later became a symbol of Dutch culture and trade. Today, the Netherlands is the world’s largest producer of tulips, exporting millions of bulbs each year.

On Koh Samui, the coastal rock formations are shaped mainly from granite and sandstone, formed over millions of years by wind and wave erosion. Scattered along the shoreline, these smooth and rugged rocks create striking coastal scenery and provide shelter for marine life. They are a defining natural feature of the island’s landscape

Ecoduct De Woeste Hoeve is one of the largest wildlife crossings in the Netherlands. Spanning a major highway, it enables deer, wild boar, and other animals to safely cross between natural areas that were once divided by infrastructure. By restoring these migration routes, the ecoduct plays a crucial role in protecting biodiversity, reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions, and reconnecting fragmented ecosystems. From above, it stands as a powerful example of how human design can support nature.
