It’s been over a week since I heard the news and I still can’t wrap my head around it. I’m not sure if I ever will, but here are some thoughts about Adam.
We met 25 years ago when he applied for a job with me. I never, in a million years, would have guessed we’d stay connected all this time. Adam embraced everything with a passion and curiosity unlike most others. He loved photography and music, my two passions at the time and it was always fun to geek out together about any of it. Music was what we most often shared over the years since I closed my lab, and for that I’ll always be grateful. With just about everything Adam loved, it was all or nothing. “Full on” is how I’ll remember him - in the best way possible.
Most people may not know this about him but when we were building out the @firstexposures darkroom it was Adam I went to for help designing our darkroom ventilation system since our local architect and mechanical engineer didn’t fully grasp what we needed. Adam did, and thanks to him I will always be proud that the air in that room is the cleanest it can be, providing safety for all those who use it.
He was always one of the smartest, goofiest, most creative and generous people I knew and I’ll miss him so much, even if we didn’t see each other recently. We still texted semi-regularly and I always smiled when I saw a notification with his name on it.
