I had a lovely day trip to Aberdeen with Héloïse Bernard last Thursday, escaping the storm in Edinburgh! We performed a selection of songs from John Forbes' 'Songs and Fancies', as part of the National Library of Scotland Centenary programme. Currently their copy of the print is on loan to Aberdeen Art Gallery, as part of their OUTWITH programme. Here is the last song of our programme, 'In a Garden so Green', a traditional Scottish song that found its way into the print.
It was wonderful to speak at this week's IMS tablature study group at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, lots of exciting ideas and conversations were exchanged! It was my first visit to Basel and I enjoyed getting to know the city and also visit a couple of friends in Lucerne (and also sneak a peak at Riccardo Chailly post-gig!).
1) Presenting at Basel lute study days.
2) A delicious lunch.
3) Music Instrument Museum.
4) A nice street.
5) A delicious Swiss white wine and another nice street.
6) Baseler Münster in the morning.
7) View over the river.
8) A famous wooden bridge in Lucerne that I understand has been burnt down several times.
9) Another nice street.
10) Mountains and a pole.
11) Fondue!
12) Speaking about Wagner with William.
Yesterday I completed the skipping challenge (though I was perhaps not as consistent as I was at the beginning!) and we managed to raise £245 for Crohn's & Colitis UK! Thanks so much to everyone who donated, your generosity will make a big difference to someone suffering with this illness. There is still time to donate, the link is in the comments.
A family affair today (we all did 123 skips)! And now we have surpassed the £123 target, having raised a £130, THANKS EVERYONE!
