5. Manny Wallie Nose Manny
Met up with @brandonstepanow and @jasperstieve here one day after work. I remember taking a minute to figure this out. The wall was basically a cheese grater. That board was new and after I had razor nose. What I like most about all these clips is that you can’t really practice these at your local park. Was just fun to figure it out and enjoy the process, even if it feels like hell when you’re in it.
4. Half Cab Manny Wallride Manny 180
First time here, all I remember is that it was really hot and I tried this for 2 or 3 hours. Getting my body not to spin, hitting the wall with the right speed and trying not to let the front wheels hit after coming down from the wallride. One of those, didn’t really believe it was over after landing it. Celebrated with pizza.
3. Manny to Manny to Manny to Manny Flip
Basically cold called Brandon to see if he would be down to film me try this. We knew each other, but hadn’t skated solo. He was down and after we got it we started skating together all the time. I think it might have been the first trick I filmed for this part. Fun time to look back on for me.
2. Slappy 5050 Manny to Fakie Manny to Fakie 5-0
Got this idea skating Spring St curbs, but this curb near Borough Hall has a better grind. Unfortunately knobbed now. This was a battle. After getting it we almost didn’t use it in the video, but turned out to get the most cheers in my part at the premiere of any other trick I did. Brandon found the perfect part in the song to place it. So stoked how it turned out.
1. Nose Manny to Nosegrind to Nose Manny to Nose Manny
This was actually the night before the premiere. All week I’d gone back to Fort Greene Park 3 trying a different trick. I was tripping all week that I had no last trick. Took off work this day. Came up with this rolling around the monument, rub bricked the step with a rock I found and it worked. I liked this idea because I’d never seen anyone skate the spot like this. I landed this basically 24 hours before the premiere. My busted phone said 33, but it was 25 degrees out for sure.
