It’s crazy how massive whales are but they’re actually hard to spot while downwinding in choppy conditions! This guy scared me I’m not gonna lie and the sound of it slapping its tail doesn’t do it justice in person was crazy. Passing whales is actually super common but just so happen to have camera rolling to capture this moment!
Always test in small surf before heading out to try a downwind run, here I wanted to see if I could even paddle up on this 60L parawing board @stingerboards made for me. Even with the headwind it was totally doable and I think out in the bumps with wind at my back it will be easier than this. I’m really out of breath in this video from multiple pop ups and riding around haha sorry for the heavy breathing. Next will be a real downwind run, it’s amazing how with good technique you can go smaller in liters most people will be surprised they can do it! We’ve been riding way too many liters which causes most people to have a cork effect above the water, having your board slightly sunk in the water actually creates stability in a weird way. Another channel crossing down! By far the toughest waters to downwind , constantly changing and so powerful! Decided to go unassisted with no escort this year and damn it’s a mind game being out there by yourself most the time! Ended up making the entire race one shot without falling which was a goal of mine and so happy to complete the race clean! Thanks @makaicreative for getting a drone clip of me at the end of the 40 miles and coming in at the end with my friend @trent.carter was pretty special! Learned a lot this channel crossing and see what I need to work on! Yew! 🦅🙌🏽
Our backyard run has been perfect this past weekend! Tidal slurp still going strong! Whenever the bumps are stacking and close together like this I love using a smaller SUP board along with @codefoils 720S perfect for doing turns! Little 6’10” @stingerboardsandfoils with a sea snake paint job hopefully deter them 🦈.

Been no waves on the Northshore but plenty of wind! Our short 2 mile downwind run has been so fun lately, especially with these large tide swings adding that extra slurp! Couple laps on my 4’11” @stingerboardsandfoils which is @foildrive compatible and @codefoils 720S + 142AR combo!
