This was 2013. It was the beginning of my journey in dance photography. @tspaul86 , soloist at @sfballet at the time, was the first professional dancer to trust me into capturing his art.
I was hooked.
We were at the Vaillancourt Fountain in San Francisco. A dancer's career is finite. The same is true for this fountain, because it was dismantled today.
I am glad we captured these memories.
Tagging @guillaumedesachy as well, who assisted my on this shoot.
This is the tutu she wore for Solo Seal--the highest vocational graded examination offered by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).
Contratulations @annievirsik , with @mpaod
When I prepare for a dance photo session, I have concepts to experiment, objects to play with, emotions to explore.
By the time @rebecca__sabrina steps in front of the camera, these become just the starting points. The creative journey is unpredictable, unique and always invigorating.
The sliver of light just grazes the expression. The true strength is anchored in the shadows.
From my first dance session of the year with @rebecca__sabrina
I will be flying to Boston on Friday. I am so looking forward to capturing movement with @louise.hautefeuille and drawing places with @milena.raeber . Always in the most unusual location.
