in her first vintage shirt. this shirt was given to me when I was born and i’ve always dreamt about putting this on my baby. time flies and life comes full circle. two baddies born at south miami hospital. it’s fun being your mom Apolonia <3
last year adrian and i moved into my childhood home and started plans to remodel. we found out i was pregnant and wanted to pause on the renovation until after she’s here. when @carolinamenendezphoto reached out asking if i would be interested in taking maternity photos, i knew i wanted to take them at home, where so many of my family’s memories have happened for over 40 years. it’s crazy to think apo’s nursery is my old nursery. in some of these photos i’m wearing my abuela’s maternity top she wore in cuba when she was pregnant. i’m also wearing her calendar charm she gifted me earlier this year that my abuelo gave her on their wedding anniversary. i have my dad’s diamond ring on he gave me for my quinces and the apolonia nameplate adrian had made for me to wear until we pass it down to her. the white nightgown was my mother’s that she wore while pregnant with my brother on her wedding night. the painting behind me of the conga player is in likeness of my dad and painted by his great friend. i’ve always been a nostalgic person and i’m so happy caro was able to capture these images that i will get to share with my daughter and family for life. i’m leaning into the new reality of my life, and sending so much love to everyone who’s on the journey with us 💕
