I spent 10 years writing songs for big-name artists… and had nothing to show for it but hard drives full of music that made me $0.
One cut in a decade.
Everything changed when I stopped chasing artists and started learning how to write music for TV and film.
If you’re tired of great songs just sitting on your hard drive… you’re not alone.
Follow me. I’ll teach you the path I wish someone taught me 10 years ago.

Everyone talks about getting your music on TV.
Almost nobody tells you how to actually do it.
Sync licensing isn’t one industry — it’s a collection of different industries with different rules, needs, and decision-makers. And most musicians struggle because nobody teaches how any of this works.
That’s why I built CTRL Camp.
If you want clarity, real info, and a real plan to get your music placed…
Comment “SYNC ME” and I’ll send you everything you need to get started.
Let’s get your music on somebody’s TV show.

Hip hop artists get rejected from sync more than any other genre. Most of the time it’s not the music.
These 10 mistakes are usually why.
Number 2 and 3 catch a lot of people off guard. Number 9 is the one that hurts the most because it’s the easiest to fix.
Drop your questions about any of these in the comments. I’ll break them down.

When I first dreamed about making it in music, I thought fame was the goal.
I practiced my Grammy speech in the mirror.
I chased it for a long while.
But somewhere along the way I found a door nobody told me about.
A whole side of the music industry where your music ends up on TV shows watched by millions of people - and none of them know who made it.
No face. No name. No followers required.
Just the work.
My music has been on Shameless. Chicago Fire. Baby Sharks Big Show.
Heard by tens of millions of people in their living rooms during moments they actually remember.
And I’m out in public completely anonymous while the world walks past.
Doing music without the fame is better than what I was hoping for.
The work does the talking. The doors keep opening.
And the music ends up everywhere.
🎵 Drop a 🎹 if you want to know how this actually works.

Is YouTube about to put Artlist and Musicbed out of business? 👀
Because this week YouTube rolled out AI-generated replacement music directly inside YouTube Studio.
And if you’ve been making money creating background music for micro-sync libraries… this is probably a bigger deal than people realize.
What’s interesting is YouTube seems completely fine with AI music when it’s being used as a utility to protect monetization and avoid copyright claims.
That’s a VERY different conversation than AI music as art.
If you’re signed to Artlist, Epidemic, Musicbed, etc… what are you seeing right now?
Are placements slowing down?
Are submissions getting harder to land?
Are producers starting to pivot?
I really want to hear from people inside this lane.

Everybody keeps talking about AI replacing musicians…
Meanwhile I’m over here worried about AI casually destroying somebody’s reputation. 😳
Canadian Musician, Ashley MacIsaac is reportedly suing Google after an AI-generated Overview falsely labeled him a convicted sex offender… and according to the lawsuit, it allegedly cost him gigs.
THAT is the kind of AI conversation we need to be having.
Also…
as a violinist…
I will never be referring to myself as a “fiddler” online again. 💀
What do y’all think?
Should companies be legally responsible for misinformation generated by the AI systems they build?

Here’s what separates a $500 sync placement from a $5,000 one.
Most producers focus on the drop. Music supervisors are listening for something else entirely.
These 5 things make your song easier to license, easier to edit, and harder to pass on.
Which one are you adding to your next song? Drop it in the comments.

Using AI to make music? Big no-no in sync licensing.
Using AI to do your metadata so you can send more music faster?
That's a different conversation.
My dude @clintmusic is using Claude to generate full metadata spreadsheets from a single upload - track title, genre, BPM, key, mood, keywords, instruments, description - ready to send to publishers.
In sync, volume is everything. Briefs drop with 24 hours notice. Emails come in begging for songs needed in a couple of hours. And every placement requires paperwork before before you're even considered.
The admin side of this business is a real obstacle.
AI music = no.
AI workflows that help you make more human music, faster = worth paying attention to.
Are you open to using AI tools to support your workflow, or is it a hard no across the board?
Drop it in the comments.
