Your sound design sounds terrible because of this.
one of the most important concepts of sound design is layering.
Layering SFX to add depth. A riser by itself isn’t as impactful as a riser mixed with a whoosh and impact.
Studying others who do it better than me, this concept is brought up almost all the time. So, learn what SFX pair well and really just experiment is all i can say. That is the only way you will improve. 👌

One of my all time favorite movies. It accurately depicts how to use framing and composition to represent the way your subject feels in there world.
This type of thinking and planning provides greater depth to your films. Each shot plays a role im how the audience interprets the film.
Your film should essentially capture the brands values, aesthetics & tone. You don’t compose a shot because it looks cool. You compose a shot because it reflects the brands identity. Every shot should reinforce this belief.
Every detail really matters. The colors of your film, framing & composition, lighting style or contrast ratios. It should all reinforce brand identity.
Do you think it’s important as a filmmaker to think about how brand identity shifts film architecture? ⬇️
The low angle lateral tracking shot is a widely used shot in the automotive car brand film space. While also incorporating the camera shake technique to further enhance speed.
This shot type represents power, speed & dominance. And it is specifically used in car commercials with high paced visuals. Some car brands include porsche, Ferrari and bmw.
The idea is to make the car look powerful and feel aggressive.
“Behind The Scenes”
Here is some of the gear i use on my projects.
- Sony A7IV (FX3 Currently)
- DJI Mini 4 Pro
- DJI Osmo Action 4
- Zoom F3
- MKE 600
I’ll always mostly shoot in S-Log 3 & Sgamut3.Cine. This will give you the best color depth & dynamic range. Shoot with your cameras dual ISO (if available). For the Sony A7IV that’s 800 & 3200 ISO. You can also bump it to 10000 or 12800 max without to much quality loss.
If you don’t want to mount your camera for car POV shots. I like to use @osmo_global Osmo Action 4/5. As for my settings 24fps, 1/50 or 1/60, ISO as low as possible, Standard 15mm lens & rock steady stabilization. Also don’t forget to add an ND filter.
