Star Trek Discovery, 5x08 — “Labyrinths” — was an experience that completely spoiled me. Once again, I had an incredible co-writer in Lauren Wilkinson, who gave this episode so much of its soul. Our crew, who never ceased to amaze, outdid themselves with this one — the amount of work to bring both the Breen threat and the Eternal Archive to life was substantial. I could not be more thrilled with the final result. Thank you all for the hard work. I’ve said it many times, but this show was truly life changing for me. The amount of support I received from colleagues, from friends, from family was staggering — I greatly appreciate you all. Enjoy a few of my favorite frames from the episode.

Today marks the end of Star Trek Discovery. Episode 4x04 — “All is Possible” — was my first writing credit in television. It truly takes a massive team effort to bring these shows to life, and the sheer talent and creativity surrounding you can be both invigorating and humbling. I learned so much from my incredible co-writer @ab.mcelroy (who definitely saved me from myself a few times!) Here are a few of my favorite frames from the episode. Between COVID surging, harsh weather, and multiple days on location, it was a tough episode. Thank you again to the cast and crew for your incredible work.

@j.w.hendricks has been documenting the strike since the beginning. His photos showcase all the emotions that appear on the line, but more than anything he's captured the solidarity and determination of WGA, SAG-AFTRA, and all those who are affected by the strike (which goes far beyond those two guilds.) Thanks J.W. for all the hard work, and for managing to make me look good despite the heat, sweat, and crowds. Check out his site (/) #wgastrong #sagaftrastrong

Some of the signs I made for the Star Trek picket. I wanted to pull from every era, as the event had writers from every series present — including TOS! The quote under the villains comes from the AMPTP. With SAG-AFTRA now taking a strike vote, the pressure will continue to mount on them. The Spock signs were an idea from @itswilwheaton , who marched in solidarity with us earlier this week. ✊🏻🖖🏻 #wgastrong

Today was both stressful and invigorating. My mind is very much on my colleagues and peers, both writers and the incredible members of our crews — a work stoppage affects all. But I also felt incredible support from my fellow WGA members, the other guilds, and the general public. While a strike is stressful, being surrounded by loved ones and friends brought a smile to my face. #wgastrong #wgastrike

I spent a little time today mocking up some pro-WGA satire. I'll get to the other logos / studios when I can, but now I'm off to picket. Images and animations available for all here: https://goo.gl/maps/oj91TD5c8td183ex8 Please let me know if there are issues with the link / files! #wgastrong

The studios’ counter offer to our demands is a joke. It does nothing to address the underlying issues plaguing our industry and exploiting our most vulnerable members. This is unacceptable. The road ahead will likely be difficult, judging by the current offer, but one thing is certain — I am proud to be a WGA member. #wgastrong

I cannot believe my first writing credit was for an episode of Star Trek. Once again, I have to thank our showrunners @michelleparadise1 , @alexkurtzmanofficial , and especially @ab.mcelroy ! Available today on Paramount+! #startrekdiscovery

IATSE is in the middle of negotiating their next contract with AMPTP. Writers’ assistants and script coordinators are among the lowest paid members of our industry. The average income for both professions falls under HUD’s “very low income” threshold. Yet the studios refuse to consider a living wage. If you are a writer or producer, especially on studio shows, pressure every exec you can to support IATSE’s living wage. It is absurd that billion dollar studios refuse to pay their most vulnerable employees a decent wage. The lack of meaningful financial compensation also negatively impacts any attempt to broaden the diversity of support staff. Without a living wage, people without outside support are unable to take these jobs, forming yet another barrier of entry. Until the studios commit to supporting these professions, any talk of expanding access is just that - talk. #iasolidarity #iatse

Growing up, I was always drawn to Star Trek. Its vision of an optimistic and diverse future had an immense impact on me. Incredibly proud to be a small part of its legacy. Season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery begins on October 15th! #startrek #startrekdiscovery
