Closing out the European tour with @queensofthestoneage tonight at the iconic @royalalberthall in London
I am grateful to the band and crew for inviting me on this wild ride over the hills and through the woods to rattle around the catacombs of their deep body of work.
Queens is the perfect band to take their music to adventurous new places and being entrusted to navigate these waters with them has been an honor and a thrill.
We finish the tour in the U.S. next month but playing in London tonight is very special on a personal level
Memorial Day weekend I got a call from Dre inviting me to his studio to hear an album he was producing for Marsha Ambrosius. The very next day I was having my mind blown by the songs, the vocals and the production. “Ready to add some strings to these songs?”Ready? Hell yeah.
I spent a week immersing myself in music that inspires and informs my string arranging, then sat down and wrote eight arrangements in 10 days. And that was just the beginning of a truly transformative musical experience.
Thx to @drdre and @marshaambrosius and the entire team. I can’t wait for the world to hear “Casablanco”.

Helping @defleppard make the Drastic Symphonies album was an immense thrill.
Check out this new trailer filmed at the @abbeyroadstudios sessions!

I played this guy on every show of the Catacombs Tour with @queensofthestoneage
and on stages with my band @thesectionquartet .
We’ve rocked @coachella@largolosangeles@thekiaforum@hollywoodbowl and so many more stages over the last 25 years together
Many thanks to Nathan at @benningviolins for giving my Paesold violin some well-earned TLC this week.
Also a big shout out to @lrbaggsofficial string instrument pickups and @kreddle for their innovative adjustable chin rests for violin and viola
For all things strings in LA, check out Benning Violins (aka @Studio City Music)
30 years ago this week I was playing Budokan on the Page and Plant Unledded Tour. My first big tour, I remember it like it was yesterday. Six nights at Budokan plus four other shows in Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka.
Performing with @jimmypage and @robertplantofficial was an education, but I had a blast with the band: @charliejonesbass , keyboardist and arranger Ed Shearmur, the late Michael Lee on drums and hurdy gurdy master Nigel Eaton. They all welcomed me into the fold with such kindness.
I led the 20-piece orchestra made up of colleagues from my Tokyo studio musician days. We played “Rain Song” for the first time on that tour and Ten Years Gone because Jimmy and Robert were impressed by the Tokyo ensemble’s sound and attitude.
Of course @poison65 from @udo_artistsinc treated us like kings.
Fantastic memories on and off stage. 30 years....
Happy Birthday @jimmypage
I do enjoy posting this photo of my night at the prom with Jimmy in 1996 in Fukuoka, Japan at the tail end of the Unledded Tour. The whole band welcomed me into the fold for the Japan leg of the tour and I couldn’t have had more fun! After all these years it’s still one of my favorite career highlights.

Last week I made a quick yet action-packed trip to Nashville and made a bunch of new friends while recording strings for @reallindaperry while christening the new @goldpacificstudios in Berry Hill
Shout out to the string musicians of Nashville assembled by @austin.jitterbug.hoke , a tag-team engineering crew of studio owner @danballardmusic with @chriskarnmusic and @jeremyvans , plus lots of tasty food and a little bit of Kentucky whiskey that helped us complete two stringalicious days in the studio
Didn’t get to see all my pals in Nashville but I was fortunate to catch up with @grantleephillips and @willett.world
Many thanks to @equalizeher leader Alisha Ballard!
