Dinner is always better with friends. From enjoying the Earth Day @thesaltymag_ dinner with @chefbillyd @robrubba @thorntoncashiii @johnnycuriel7 to an epic @handspl3ase weekend and many meals and martinis in between, the end of April saw the beginning of countless beautiful relationships. Thank you to clients @sopranarooftop for hosting the afterparty and @embassysuitesasheville and @doubletreeashevilledowntown for accommodations. I am grateful to @joshuahernand3z and @zachnc , my friends and fellow dreamers, for making the magic happen and gathering so many great people in Asheville. I look forward to seeing you all again and supporting you in your own cities soon. šŸ™šŸ¼

Community is at the heart of everything we do, and next Thursday, we’re putting that into action. The Scheffer Group restaurants will be donating 20% of sales to Western North Carolina AIDS Project (@wncap ) during Dining Out For Life! Since 2002, Dining Out For Life has raised hundreds of thousands for those affected by HIV/AIDS in our community. This event came to Asheville through the tireless efforts of Harry Brown and the early support of our owner, Eric Scheffer, who helped rally the restaurant community and has remained a passionate advocate ever since. Eric’s commitment goes back to the 1980s, inspired by his cousin Brice, a fellow activist who passed away from AIDS. We’re proud to support this cause in his memory. Dine with us next Thursday, April 30th. Every table makes a difference. 🧔

A little inspiration from New York šŸ—½ Eric and Chef Kaya recently spent time in Chinatown and on Mott Street, visiting some of the legendary places that helped inspire The Majestic. New York-style Chinese American takeout is something special. Quick, comforting, and deeply nostalgic. Sizzling woks. Stacks of takeout boxes. The dishes people have been coming back for generations. The Majestic is our love letter to that tradition. We’re excited to share more with you soon. 🄔🄠

Today we’re thrilled to introduce the newest addition to The Scheffer Group family: The Majestic (@themajesticavl ).🄢 For years, the Asheville community has been asking for a New York–style Chinese American restaurant, and owner/chef Eric Scheffer has been thinking about this idea for a long time. The Majestic will be a counter-service restaurant serving the classic Chinese American dishes you know and love, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. Growing up in Brooklyn and Long Island, Chinatown and Mott Street were a constant part of Eric’s upbringing. The flavors, familiarity, and comfort of those restaurants became the inspiration behind what we’re building now. To help shape the concept, Eric partnered closely with Chef Ray Hui, Executive Chef of Gan Shan and a first-generation Chinese American. Ray’s lived experience, cultural understanding, and culinary expertise were essential in developing the menu, which reflects a shared commitment to honoring the food and the community it comes from. Chef Kaya Rehnberg will lead the kitchen as Executive Chef. Kaya has been part of The Scheffer Group for more than three years, most recently as Sous Chef at Gan Shan, and brings over a decade of kitchen experience to the team. The Majestic is currently under construction at 321 Merrimon Ave and is planned to open in late May. Follow @themajesticavl and join the email list at the link in our bio to stay up to date as we get closer to opening!

Throwback to our trip out to @n.sea.oysterco ! ✨ Some of our team here at Jettie Rae’s had the honor of making a trip out to Topsail, NC, to connect with their incredible crew and see them work their skills. Trips like this remind us why we do what we do—building relationships, supporting local businesses, and sourcing the freshest, most delicious oysters for our guests. There’s something special about knowing the people and places behind the food we serve, and we’re so grateful for partnerships like these. Here’s to good friends, great oysters, and the connections that make it all possible. Thanks again for such a great adventure! šŸ¦ŖšŸ’™ šŸ“ø: @oftbagency . . . #ashevilleĀ #ashevillencĀ #avlfoodies #jettieraes #freshseafoodavl

We had the pleasure of hosting a sold-out Master Class at @jettieraes with oyster sommelier and @oystermasterguild co-founder @inahalfshellist . Attendees learned how to use all of their senses to deepen their oyster appreciation, as well as a deep dive into merroir, climate fluctuations and lifecycles. We tasted some fantastic oysters from @islandcreekoysters @kinnakeetoystercompany @walrusandcarpenteroysters and @stickybottomoysters .

"As soon as I opened up the doors and people knew, this was old school, New York, Northeast Italian food, the place was packed. I've been open 15 years now, and it's been one of the greatest blessings of my life." Eric Scheffer, a defining voice in Asheville’s food scene and owner of @vinniesavl @ganshanavl @jettieraes , shares with @restaurantguyspodcast how he left Los Angeles for a then-sleepy mountain town with few restaurants, buying a modest space and kicking off what became a 25+ year journey in leading some of the top rated dining destinations in the city. Check out the full episode at the link in bio.

There is no better industry for freedom and impact than the restaurant industry. Eric Scheffer’s episode dropped on Friday. Relentless generosity, shared knowledge, and people-first leadership—not ego or secrecy—are what build durable, profitable restaurant businesses. Treat restaurants as businesses with discipline around numbers, ownership, and systems, while using collaboration and community to reduce risk and increase opportunity= freedom and impact When operators invest in people, own their environment, and lead with purpose, success becomes sustainable and unstoppable. #restaurantpodcast #restaurantowner #restaurantbusiness #restaurantindustry #hospitality
