The album title itself suggests a reckoning with the internal—a realization that time is the only distance between an artist and their masterpiece—resulting in a body of work that feels less like a collection of tracks and more like a hard-won transmission from the deep. Forged in a crucible of stress, chaos, and loss, the LP eschews the easy loops of his earlier output for a far more complex architecture. While Cloutier’s signature hypnotic pulse remains the bedrock, the record expands into a startlingly broad lexicon: the dub-wise weight of "Hävittää" and the tribal intensity of "Desassossego" sit alongside moments of fragile ambient beauty. Cloutier’s twenty-plus year commitment has been built upon his integrity as a DJ and authority as a selector. A self-described “record digging psychopath, “ one only has to refer to his mix of highly sought after cuts from Driftwood Records to see the lengths Cloutier will go to in order to procure the perfect selection. This is truly Cloutier’s nature - one of zeal and infatuation towards the warm, dubby, hypnotic house and techno that has come to characterize his sound as well as his masterful ability to bridge the gap between dance music’s past and its future. An exception to the norm, Cloutier is not one to capitalize on his Detroit origins. Moving to New York in his 20’s, he became a regular face at The Bunker where he began to further define his innate style of body orientated music. Now situated in Berlin, where he often shows up behind the decks of niche alcoves as well as the world’s best clubs, Cloutier’s reputation as an unequivocal, dexterous force is increasingly becoming one of note. His talents as a producer have also been growing of late, with the establishment of his own imprint Palinoia, Greek for “the obsessive repetition of an act until it is perfected or mastered. ” The label has become the new home and optimization for Cloutier’s evolving undertakings. Through Palinoia, Cloutier manages to further synthesize slick, dubby club music to slide into his DJ sets as well as feature lesser known talent he’s discovered. He’s a DJ for whom quality - above all else - is the watchword.

He performs regularly in both intimate venues and leading international clubs. His work as a producer has grown alongside his DJ career. Through his imprint *Palinoia* he refines slick, dubby club music for his own sets and provides a platform for lesser known talent he supports. Quality remains his guiding principle. If you've trolled my SoundCloud over the last week, you may have stumbled upon my re-uploading of the twelve-hour live-stream I did for The Bunker NY during the pandemic. Originally, I thought I had completely lost the file, and it seemed to have been removed from online entirely. As luck would have it...I had found the copy of the stream itself (not my original recording I made in parallel to the broadcast) and decided to reprocess it, chop it up into managable size files, and allow FLAC downloading of the entire show from 2020. A perk of being a Tresor resident means I can curate a night three times a year, which means I can invite people whom I respect, whose music I play, and who I genuinely love as a DJ. One of the best of the best of the best, a living database of dubby grooves and psychedelic rollers, is XDB.
