Well this happened. First video project. First Emmy nom. First Emmy win. What a night. @fernanda__pires__ has been planning this story for a long time, and it was an incredible opportunity to join the project and create the video and still photography. This award is hers as well. Special thanks to @rabbishemp who provided graphics. And of course @palindromevideo , who without his guidance with story development and support on drone permissions, this video story would not have won. Following the journey of University of Michigan students working with locals in Brazil, especially in such a unique and remote place, was truly heartwarming. Watching them bring light to rural schools and design innovative incinerators ​in the Amazon and the Pantanal was both inspiring and breathtaking. This is probably a good time to announce I’ve been promoted as the Director of Michigan Photography at the University of Michigan. I’m replacing Roger Hart who retired today after 11 years of service at the U-M. And why does it look like I’m not in Ann Arbor on the day of my promotion? I’m currently halfway through a two week assignment in Brazil where I will have been to the Amazon rainforest and Pantanal. Thank you to Roger who guided me and without him, this promotion would not be possible. Also, thank you to all my colleagues at Michigan Photography, OVPC, and Michigan Athletics. And of course, Kim Haskins for taking a chance on me as a freelancer all those many years ago. And thank you to @betsyeriksonbrown for taking a chance on me now. #GoBlue Fotos by @fernanda__pires__
