I am often asked if there’s a benefit to virtual auditions and the answer is complicated:
Are you better in that space? Are you going to get more than one take in that space? Do you need help with a reader or someone to answer your questions?
Casting wants you to do well. If the virtual space provides an added boost to your audition and final performance, great! If it doesn’t, and only offers anxiety, tech woes and nerves… then self-tape my babes.
My favorite thing about 2025 is that we have this hybridized audition process. Self-tapes + virtuals + occasional in-person reads mean that we have the flexibility to accommodate actors so that they do their best. How dreamy!
Importantly, though, understand that while all of these audition forms are related, THEY ARE DIFFERENT. They need to be practiced as individual techniques.

Babes, we’re back with a new year self-tape Challenge!
This bad boy is going to involve all the job-type roles you might find at a restaurant!
Here’s what you can expect:
• Kick-off Zoom with Erica and Cara to provide some tips and guidance ahead of taping
• Four roles to tape, on your own time, by a deadline
• Additional resources, links and guidance
• Slack channel to meet your fellow challengers, find readers and support
• Access to alllllllllll tapes for your viewing (and educational!) pleasure
• Wrap up Zoom to ask questions, hear about common traps, themes and habits
Cara and Erica will pick their favorites for each role and discuss why those folks rose to the top for each character.
It’s exercise, it’s community, it’s a guided safe space to try things and see if they work.
It’s the gym… at the restaurant!

Script Analysis is the number one skill needed to help with your auditions. Yet it’s easily overlooked, skimmed or even fully ignored as an actor considers the many other decisions they need to make for any given audition.
But good text analysis provides answers, easy confidence. There’s so much right in front of you if time is taken to mine it out.
Which is why Cara and I have brought back our long form Script Analysis Class! Multiple weeks of practice, guidance and feedback to help actors hone this very important skill. Live Zooms will start and end our journey, and in between you’ll have the flexibility to get the work done on your own time (by a deadline.)
We created this technique to SPECIFICALLY help with your on-camera auditions.
Check it out at the link in bio.

Last year we talked about the State of the Industry, this year, we’re focusing on positive, actionable activities actors can do to end 2025 strong and kick off 2026 with heat!
This one-day webinar will give actors some to-dos, explaining the benefits, the whys and hows.
Recorded and captioned for all participants. And everyone will take home their own TO DO list. (A whole new take on making lists and checking them twice!)
Bring your friends and accountabilibuddies. Bring your pen and note pad. We’re focusing on what’s within control and how to make the most of the next few weeks.
Link in bio my babes.
We’ve been dropping gym analogies all summer, so let’s take it one step further:
Introducing THE CHALLENGE
A community self-tape exercise to finish your year strong.
Actors will complete SIX self-tapes in three weeks. Sides, guided videos and resources provided by Cara and me. All participants will have access to view the work of their peers, and we’ll be highlighting our faves in each role.
This is your end-of-year bootcamp, my beauties. Grab your friends, your accountabil-a-buddies, your taping partners, and get one more big workout in before the end of the year.
Let’s go.

For many (most) in the entertainment industry, this has been a... difficult... year.
So I’m here to remind you that your status as a professional actor is not predicated on how many auditions you received or how many jobs you booked.
Did you study your craft?
Did you write a short?
Did you update your materials?
Did you film self-tapes for practice?
Did you follow industry news?
Did you serve as a reader?
Did you read screenplays?
Did you say yes to a student film?
Did you nurture industry relationships?
Did you learn a new skill or dialect?
Did you volunteer for a table read?
Did you challenge yourself to a new... Class? Coach? Rep? Headshot style? Genre? Self-Tape set-up? Market? Theatre production? Technique? Artistic Habit?
If you combined any number of those things, guess what: you’re a professional actor.
Auditions are great. Bookings are magic. But they are only one part of the professional actor equation.
Hold on to your creative joy, and keep putting one foot in front of the other, my dears.

Imposter Syndrome blows. But it’s painfully normal. And frankly, feeling it means you’re growing, you’re challenging yourself to something difficult, you’re facing a fear head on.
Let it motivate you; don’t let it stop you in your tracks.

You’ve probably all felt it: this sense of waiting. The industry is saying “survive ‘til 25” so you just have to make it to Jan. 1, 12:01am... right?
In going into survival mode, one may have inadvertently stagnated. You’re treading water, and yet, the industry is still moving forward, (maybe at a snail’s pace, but it is moving forward.)
Instead of surviving, THRIVE. It doesn’t have to be in the normal ways: weird times call for different choices. You don’t have a zillion auditions right now, so that means you have time to go see some local theatre! Or have a movie marathon! Or read that stack of industry biopics on your nightstand! Just because the industry is quiet doesn’t mean we have to be.
Fill your creative cup in creative ways. Get silly and work a scene from a Shakespeare comedy and then tape it as if it were an audition for a movie. Film an Instragram reel with a friend, totally in character. Spend the entire day in a dialect, even when you talk to your mom on the phone. Or go the more traditional route of a new class, a yummy staged reading, a challenging intensive.
My loves: there is simply no guarantee that 2025 is going to be significantly different from 2024. (It *may* be, but don’t let this mantra fool you into a false sense of security.)
So whatever you do, don’t simply survive. THRIVE.
