It’s PUBLICATION DAY for MOTHERFLUX! ✨💜✨
MotherFlux is the collaborative work of three queer parent-poets from the margins of (m)otherhood.
From embryonic dreamers and pregnancy-performers to sleep-deprived newbies and seasoned second-timers, their poems are raw, messy, and unflinching reflections on what it means to be a parent, and to make a family. The pamphlet considers gender, sexuality, politics, and the body as it moves between heightened individual experiences to outright rejections of societal expectations.
These are voices recording in real time, mothering in flux.

ALL THE SHITTY IVF TWEETS I NEVER SENT is one of my favourite things I’ve ever written, true to our crappy times with unexplained infertility and the ridiculous lengths my body went through to (eventually!) have a baby. Read, share, cry-laugh along with me!
This piece is also deeply inspired by the great Samantha Irby whose book WOW, NO THANK YOU definitely saved my sanity during those pandemic/fertility times. If she ever reads this, I hope she’ll understand how I’m in deep scatological debt to her.

Edinburgh with the fam. 🏴🌊🍦📚Saw some friends, saw some friends’ books, celebrated my wife, saw a starling up close, had goats cheese & peach ice cream, fell in love with Portobello (Bookshop). We’ll be back. 💛
🏴 worked out of the Edinburgh office for two days, got a tour of the UK’s colour printer Bell & Bain in Glasgow. Fine hospitality, excellent craftsmanship—and I absolutely nerded out over how books are made. Barrels of ink! Tiny CMYK dots! Rolls of foils! Recognised a few book friends, too… Obligatory lift selfie obvs.

London Book Fair as a @hachetteuk trainee: volunteering for #RaisingReaders and chatting with @maurawilding ; seeing @aliceoseman again and watching her sign the pledge wall with some familiar faces; attending @englishpen_ panels with the likes of @cipher_press ’ Jack Thompson and @junodawson ; lunching & catching up with my friend (& agent) @abirfellows ; hanging out with new friend trainees and seeing lots of old book friends, too!
