this is a re/baptism in mothers milk, no masculine hand of authority raised to the square above me. this is not my wedding dress, but it is my temple dress, but it’s not, anymore. it is just a garment (but not a “garment”) soaked in water, clinging to my legs like a child. rocking, spewing, drinking my temple to yours.
year one of grad school is done!! i’m learning a lot and failing a lot and every once in a while stumbling upon something meaningful! it’s my favorite Sisyphean cycle!
some glaze tests on small monstrous vessels I’m really happy with! I’ll be selling these at the SMFA sidewalk sale so if you see one you like come around may 2nd!
Had the opportunity to travel to Detroit this week to witness NCECA’s first ceramic performance programming. (Among some other incredible programming) I was absolutely stunned by @rahafilsoofi ‘s profound curation of performers. I am forever changed by the things I saw, learned felt. So grateful to @smfa.mfa for funding this opportunity and for all the creative minds that came together to make this week happen!! I am itching to get back into the studio

The only time a woman laid her hands on my head and blessed me I was given a new name. I guard it still, a little piece of fear I can’t let go of.

2025 I was 12 when I started doing baptisms for the dead. Brown girl in an all white jump suit in a white font with twelve golden oxen supporting the base. I felt weird with a 40 something man’s hand on my back but this was holy holy holy. It became less weird or more routine.
