As we celebrate the success of #BEACTIVEDAY 2025, we are proud to unveil the focus of the 2026 edition 🎉.
This year, #BEACTIVEDAY places mental health and wellbeing 🧠 at the centre of our collective action, with a dedicated focus on children and adolescents. Across Europe, mental health challenges are among the leading causes of reduced quality of life, and young people are particularly affected. At the same time, regular physical activity remains one of the most powerful and accessible protective factors for mental wellbeing across the lifespan.
At its core, #BEACTIVEDAY is a Europe-wide activation of the fitness and physical activity sector. Through our national member organisations, thousands of clubs, trainers and community facilities open their doors and encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to take part in exercise and sport 🏃♀️. Each year, communities come together to be active and experience the physical, social and psychological benefits of regular activity.
In 2026, this effort will be reinforced by the launch of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Guide 📘 for the fitness sector, providing practical, evidence-based guidance to help professionals create inclusive, supportive and psychologically safe environments, particularly for children and young people.
Together with our national organisations and partners, we will use #BEACTIVEDAY 2026 to raise awareness, share good practices, and encourage meaningful action across the sector. Our ambition is to position the fitness and physical activity sector as a credible contributor to Europe’s mental health and prevention agenda.
Follow us throughout the year as we work towards healthier, more supportive environments for all.

During Ramadan, millions of people fast from sunrise to sunset. But how does fasting influence training, recovery, and performance? 🌙
Recent research has explored how fasting can affect hydration, energy availability, and perceived fatigue during exercise. While these changes can influence training responses, studies also show that with proper planning, exercise performance and muscle mass can be maintained.
For personal trainers, this means understanding how to adjust training schedules, manage intensity, and support clients who choose to train while fasting. Evidence based coaching helps ensure that training during Ramadan remains both safe and effective.
At EREPS, we continue to highlight research that helps fitness professionals better support diverse client needs and training contexts. 💪
If you would like to explore the research behind this topic, you can find the studies via the link in our bio.
When do you usually prefer to train during Ramadan? Let us know in the comments.

Six years ago, #BEACTIVEDAY began with a bold vision: to unite Europe under a single, shared goal of getting people more active, more often 🎯
🌍 Today, that vision has evolved into a powerful pan-European movement. In 2025, the campaign reached unprecedented heights, with 22 countries delivering 25,778 events and engaging 829,707 participants. From school PE lessons, events at gyms and swimming sessions to group fitness classes and cycling, communities across the continent moved as one 🏊🏋️🚴
🇪🇺 Beyond grassroots participation, #BEACTIVEDAY has solidified the role of physical activity within European health policy. Following our "Exercise for Health" event at the European Parliament, we continue to reinforce that physical activity is not a luxury- it is a fundamental pillar of public health, prevention, and societal wellbeing.
📢 As we look toward 2026, we are amplifying the message of European Week of Sport. This year, we are highlighting the profound impact of physical activity on mental health, focusing on its role in building resilience and fostering social connection. As a sector, we have a unique responsibility to lead this agenda.
🎬 Watch our 2025 throwback video to see what is possible when our industry aligns around a common purpose. The momentum is building, and our impact grows stronger every year.

Wearables are bringing exciting change to the fitness industry, making training more modern, informed, and data-driven. From sleep patterns to heart health, they help us better understand what is happening in the body and respond with more confidence.
This opens the door to a new level of personalised training, with clearer insight into recovery, workload, and injury prevention.
A recent study explored how accurate wearable technologies really are and how they can support training and coaching decisions.
In this post, we’re sharing with you the key findings and how wearables can positively support fitness professionals in their everyday work.💡📊

With all the AI buzz around us, it’s natural to ask what this means for our profession. Is AI going to replace personal trainers? The short answer is no, but the conversation is worth having, especially within the EREPS community that values professional standards and evidence-based practice 🎓
In this educational post, we look at two studies from 2025 exploring how AI is shaping fitness behaviours among adolescents and everyday fitness app users.
The findings show growing engagement with AI, but also highlight the continued importance of guidance, context, and real coaching expertise 🧠

Reducing cancer risk is a shared responsibility🤝
In the EU, a new cancer case is diagnosed every 9 seconds. It is a staggering statistic, but here is the hopeful part: 30% to 50% of cancer cases are preventable through lifestyle changes.
At EuropeActive, we believe our sector is a front-line tool for prevention. Physical activity isn’t just about fitness; it’s about balancing hormones, lowering inflammation, and strengthening the immune system.
The Power of Prevention⚡
The European Code Against Cancer sets out 14 evidence-based recommendations to reduce cancer risk - including a clear call to stay active and sit less. For colon and breast cancers, regular physical activity can reduce risk by up to 30%.
The full Code is available via the link in bio.
Across Europe, the Code is supported and promoted by the Association of European Cancer Leagues, an organisation uniting national cancer leagues to reduce the burden of cancer through prevention, advocacy, and patient support.
Spotlight: HEPA Guide 2025📘
Last year, as part of our #BEACTIVEDAY campaign, we’ve teamed up with the European Cancer League and Dr. Viktor Oliva to release the HEPA Guide. It’s a free resource packed with practical advice on exercise for people with non-communicable diseases, including oncological patients during and after treatment.

Misinformation is one of the biggest challenges today. From social media to unverified content it is easy to get lost in a sea of information and struggle to separate fact from fiction.
This trend has not spared the fitness sector, where trainers and clients face daily challenges from incorrect and sometimes even dangerous claims.
This week we are highlighting two studies from last year that show why education and professional standards are essential and why personal trainers play a key role in guiding clients safely and effectively.
We encourage every trainer to educate their clients, explain the evidence and never stop learning themselves.
If you would like to read the studies in full, you can find the links in our Linktree via the link in bio.🔗

In today’s fast-paced world, cardiovascular health can easily take a back seat. Stress, long hours and busy lifestyles all place increasing strain on the heart.
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), including heart disease and stroke, remain the leading cause of death in the WHO European Region, accounting for approximately 42% of all deaths, more than any other disease group. Most of these deaths are caused by heart attacks and strokes.
Each year, millions of people across Europe are newly diagnosed with cardiovascular conditions, with risk disproportionately higher in communities experiencing greater socio-economic disadvantage.
Physical activity is one of the most effective ways to protect heart health. Alongside a balanced diet, avoiding tobacco and moderating alcohol intake, regular exercise can significantly reduce cardiovascular risk and support long-term wellbeing. Move more, rest well, and give your heart the care it deserves, your future self will thank you.❤️
